Local Register Certified copy of Marriage

Well wedding is all planned and paid for, booked the honeymoon yesterday in Palawan (Sabang) and trying to think of anything I missed.

I'll file the CR1 papers when I get back, but I was wondering about the Local Register Certified copy of our marriage license.

Since we are marrying on Aug 2nd and flying out to Palawan early on Aug 3 and not returning until late Thursday Aug 7, would we likely be able to get that certified copy on the one workday left (Friday), or would that be something May would have to get later (Not the NSO copy, I realize that will be a wait)?

I fly back on the 10th and won't be back in PI until October again.

Also, can we ask for and pay for the expedited processing the same time we get the certified copy? Maybe it differs by local registers so apologize in advance if its a dumb question.

Need NSO copy on their security paper. One from a local office is no good.

If you are talking about the initial filing with USCIS, ordinary photocopy is fine. It is the embassy interview where the certified copy is needed.

You can use the Certified True Copy of your marriage certificate issued by the LCR for the i130 filing. For NVC, they will require the NSO MC.

When you bring your MC to the LCR, request for ADVANCE ENDORSEMENT so they will expedite the processing of your NSO MC. They will say it will normally take 6 months to get it but with AE it will be quicker. I got mine in a month and a half.

Nope they only need the marriage certificate from the local registrar to file the I-130 petition, will need the NSO CEMAR later with the IR/CR-1

Yeah we have plenty of time to get the NSO one

Just want to make sure we can take our copy to the register that Friday and get a certified one (before I leave) and ask for (pay) for the Advanced endorsement. Will file with the certified copy when I get back. She will get the NSO copy later and then go get her passport (after CFO since its initial in married name, never having had one previously).

Thanks!

I hope you are aware that there is a piece of document you have to get from the US embassy in Manila/Cebu before you will be given your marriage license. It's more like a document proving that you are single and free to marry. This is a Philippine government requirement. Check this page out: http://manila.usembassy.gov/marriage.html

My understanding is that you need a marriage license to be able to marry (before the wedding). The document you are referring to above is called the marriage certificate (MC) which comes after the wedding. The MC is the one you need for filing the I-130 as well as the NVC.

I believe you need an appointment to get the document from the embassy. As to how long it takes, I don't have an idea. Hope that helps

Yes that's all done! Got the marriage license last trip (and yes we will be within the 120 day expiration limit of it as well). We are good to go for the wedding short of me bringing the rings, my tux and my old self

Glad to hear that. I figured I'd mention it since most people get bitten by that (dumb) requirement. btw, which local registry will you be doing all this? Goodluck :)
