Hello,

I got my NOA approval on May 12th. I called up the NVC but they do not have the papers yet. I suspect it will be a couple of weeks more before the receive anything based on the timelines I see here. I am traveling to India for 2 months on Friday. I have the following questions:

a. I assume that I will be able to pay my AOS and IV fees using my bank account number and check number online. Is that correct or do I need to take anything else with me?

b. I have my tax filings from the last 3 years. I filed an extension for the current year. I will take a letter from my employer but it will be about month or so old. Will that be a problem?

c. I have all the information for the IV packet but I have a feeling I will not get so far in the next 2 months.

d. Is it a problem if I send the NVC packet from India by courier?

If there is anything else that will help me, please feel free to share.

Thanks

Read the WIKI a few times... It is taking about 3-4 weeks to get a case number from the day they receive your case. If you follow the NVC MAY filers thread you can get a really good idea of how long it takes. Read the entire first post on the thread. It has tons of info that will help you greatly !

Have u tried checking in uscis online using your uscis case #? I reaceive our NOA 2 march 3 then started calling nvc after a week if they receive my my case from uscis but they said they didn't receive it, so when I found out that I can check my status in uscis I checked it and it said they shipped it march 17 in uscis. Then starting calling again if they receive it.

Nvc will give u invoice and case number. And give u the instruction

First of all, congratulations. I don't know what center you got approved from, but here is my "guesstimated" timeline. I got approved on May 14 from NSC. On may 16 i got email and text message from them saying the papers were being shipped to NVC. From my estimate based on the timelines i saw for the last 3 months, it takes about 2 weeks from service center to NVC and then 4 weeks (1 month) for them to issue a case number/IIN. If i go by that time line, I am guessing end of may will be the case when NVC will have everything and by 30 june I will be pretty close to where I get the Case Number/IIN. Then the DS 261 form becomes available and you can fill it out as long as you have a good internet connection (in india) and wait a couple of days before your AOS and IV fees become available. So early to mid july is when you will be getting ready to get submit AOS and IV applications. So I guess it depends on you where you are.

to answer your questions - a) just take your check book. Everything about your account is on there. b) It does not matter about your employment letter being old by a month. it should be fine. i don't know about the extension thing on your tax account. Sorry c) Well I say keep your IV packet ready. Who knows. d) its up to you. AS long as you have a tracking number and are ok with sending your original documents its a personal choice. Hope this helps.
