I will relate our experience, as I thought it best to wait until after the wedding, and we did, but the name change caused a huge problem in S. Carolina,.,.,.,it took 5 trips back to ge the ssn#.,.,.,the name from the Filipino name to the American name, was a nightmare.,.,.

My friend had his fiance come here many months before mine, she got her ssn# under her maiden name, no problem.,.,.,then after the marriage went back for a name change with a cert. copy of marriage license.,.,,,.wish I had done like he did.,.,.,seems to be no short cuts.,.,at least here in S. Carolina.

It is best to get your ssn before your 90 days expire and before you apply for your aos.

IF you apply for it after your 90days have expired you cannot receive your ssn until you have your green card.

which means that if you get your EAD you cannot work as you do not have an ssn.

IF you apply for it first before your 90days expire you can now work once you have your EAD, and you can just change the name on the ssn once you are married.

I have my SSN now as early as 1 week. Now preparin to attend twogetherintwo seminar. ??
