you run defag everday ? really Why?

Coz I can and I want to...& not every day but almost every day. ...yeah...every day.

But main reason = the various biz software I run each day.

I think of it like this - I don't leave my office in a mess....I keep it organized. At the end of the day = everything gets put away in it's proper place. Makes me more efficient the next day. Sooooo....I think...hmmmm....same goes for the PC. Keep it cleaned and organized = Makes sense to me.

Defragmentation, also known as defragging, is a process that takes all the file fragments scattered across a computer'sicon1.png hard drive and rejoins the multiple pieces of each file into one area. This can speed up your computer, save you time and extend the life of your hard drive. Defragging can be a lengthy process, but it is an essential part of regular computer maintenance.

I know I just made that shat up

I use to have a network admin, I would be busy as heck and have a computer issue, first thing he wanted to do was defrag my hard drive as part of trouble shooting.

I went back there one day when I was having a bad day and threatened to whip his geeek ####### if he ever tried that again.

He also had an annoying habit of paging me over the intercom, to talk about an issue that was the subject of a meeting 3 weeks from now. That almost got him killed also

You need a modern laptop with higher resolution or even Quad HD. 1368x768 is only on cheap new laptops. If your going to compare apples to Apple, you need to buy a top end Windows based pc, not a $400 one and compare it to a $2000 Mac.

I do beleive I mentioned the price difference.. When I bought these the best I could find on a PC was 1920x1080 .. Just going out to newegg right now the best laptop I could find in the first three pages of high-end (all running more money than the mac, one was 4000 dollars) was 1920x1080... I'm sure they are out there but you have to search.. I see there are a lot of laptop 4K screens being talked about..

I was looking for a similar look/feel with the mac as they both sit on my desk connected to monitors.. I was happy to find something so close.. Is there something closer? (the PC is a bit dirty from my dog yanking it down to remind me not to leave a sandwich on it)

Windows 7 blows XP out of the water.

I have never had a thought that would ever use Microsoft again after Vista thing. At least by now, I will stick with Apple products.

Well mota bhai, I do, I quoted and wrote my response and it didn't post......I'm using a PC and of course my mac doesn't do that!

Who takes tech advice from someone who can't figure out how to use the quote feature on a message board?

I'm confused. It sounded like you were complaining about it and that the Mac worked better, hence my reply. If you do it by choice, that's a different story and I shouldn't have replied.

How much would said windows unit cost? That which is comparable to the IMac?

Listen to him NB. It sounds like he knows what he talking about.

Samsung, Asus, Dell, Lenovo... make some killer Ultrabooks. Solid state drives, Quad HD displays-ultra high resolution like Apple's Retina Display, good battery life, touchscreen with Windows 8. They will be priced quite similar to the Macs, too many people compare a $400 windows PC to a $1200-2000+ Mac and say the Windows PC sucks. Compare apples to Apples and get what you prefer. If you want 8GB RAM and a 256GB ssd,, you'll be looking at $1500 or so. 512GB, over $2000. All the Mac's come with ssd except the plain old MacBook Pro 13".

If you want a desktop, I would build one from scratch.

I think Vista was all right if you bought a decent PC with it preloaded. My Vista machine is still running strong at the 5 year or so mark, and I have kiddies playing around on it.

Vista caused the most problems early on when people upgraded their XP and older operating systems on machines not powerful enough for Vista. I personally loved XP but the Vista machine has been far less problematic than any XP machine I have ever used.
