I at one point in my life was a Network admin with over 70 nodes. I thought Mac users were hippies riding a fad, trying to be cool

That was about 10 years ago and my skill set now is Avg user.

I am needing new equipment. My keyboard on my laptop is acting up etc.

I had bought my wife an Ipad and Iphone. Both work like mules, and never act up.

I am seriously thinking of getting am Mac. I mean I already have a Prius

What say the wise council about this ongoing hotly debated social topic!!!!

I bought a PC in the PI back in 2009. It was a beast, 7 speakers, blu ray, massive gaming graphics card, and anything else you could think of. Six months later, condensation got into the mother board and kaput. Bought a Mac in 2010, haven't looked back since.

But the real question is, what are you going to use it for? I use mine for school and everyday use, not to mention dabbling in pictures from my ship days.

too small screen? ok - a hardware hack:

1. jack in the back video to the big honking tv you gots and

2. get a wireess/usb keyboard mouse/dongle combo

then

you can sit on the big couch , half-naked, with the keyboard across yer knees and be productive.

that's what i did, when i was laid up with a knee injury. had remote access to the other computers inside the house also.

if'n yer wife is really offering to use her money - take this opportunity to add more gear to the man cave, not buy another laptop. summer is coming, and you need to be comfy in yer olde age whilst it's hot outside.

I've always had a mac, so mac.

It works, doesn't make you do weird stuff like "update drivers" or delete old versions of programs.

Plus when it turns on it moans for you.

I'm the same way, only opposite. Always used Windows so I'd get a Windows machine. Nothing wrong with mac of course. They're perfectly fine machines as well.

As for the moaning, I have a fap folder to satisfy those needs.

My edit: Though they are not as good as they used to be, which is annoying me. I had one computer that my family recycled amongst us kids for at least a decade.

Solid state drive will fix that, once it's out/common.

Though they will probably be evil and make something else breakable... the tech people I talk to are all like "oh, it will break down eventually. That's how electronics are." I say bullshit to that.
