Sole Joint Sponsor. One or two I-864 forms?

my USC wife's brother is the only Joint Sponsor. Wife and I have almost zero income for last 3 years, so my wife's brother is also the sole financial sponsor for me (intending immigrant).

Does the USC brother and my USC Wife both submit I-864's or do they do one joint one together? How many I-864's would I submit in total?

You BOTH need to submit one. Including tax returns and so on.

Your USC Spouse is always first sponsor, any joint sponsors are then in 2nd line.

You submit 2: Your wife as the primary sponsor, and your BIL as the joint sponsor.

Your wife must submit her own I-864 as the USC petitioner/primary sponsor and checks 1a. Her brother would submit his own separate I-864 and checks 1d. Read through the I-864 instructions to know exactly what supporting documentation must be sent with the forms.

got it. feels good to be certain. thanks everyone! So I'm going to be submitting the following then for the i-864

wife:

• i-864
• 3 year transcripts (including non-filing declaration for 2 of the years)
• birth certificate

wife's brother:

• i-864
• 3 year transcripts
• birth certificate

Hope that's all for the I-864 requirement.
