You may be right, but I think the main idea was to create controversy and stir the pot. It was a bit unusual, IMO for someone to post threads on the same two subjects over and over again, always with the said subjects being put in a negative light. He used no slurs, so no TOS violations. But what about baiting and the classic "preventing others right to enjoy the forums"? Those are used as a TOS of violation, especially the latter. My only point in bringing Danno up was for the what's acceptable and what's not discussion. I can guarantee that if you posted identical threads but make Islam and Muslim's the subject matter, they would never be tolerated, even when your viewpoint was supported with facts. Ask NB what happened when he posted a video of a well known and respected Cleric who was talking about the technicalities of when wife beating was allowed.

Cowboy is a good man that tries to do his best at all times. Rednecks used to be known this way also but has now changed meanings to where it is used as a slur. Us Southern gentlemen know the original meaning and just laugh because we know the users throwing this at us are trying to denigrate us but we know what we are.

They probably don't have a problem with it. I'm sure there are lots of common slang terms they have no problem with, hence my initial point, someone is always offended no matter what. And some go around from thread to thread looking for things that they find offensive, either to report or derail the discussion. Some users come to this forum and report and they don't ever participate. Others bait and report. Others participate and report. And some never or rarely report. For the most part, the policing of this thread was handled in house, with a few clear inputs by moderation.

You and I and also several others can bash each other and joke around and none of us gets upset or takes it seriously, it's all in good fun. The regular moderation crew knows who plays around with who and generally let's it go as long as it's not over the top.

Then there's a certain bellicose few that show up in a thread, and in short order -- all hell breaks out. Their posting style tends to generally have a hostile tone.

By subject-matter-domain - this web portal should not be in that list.

I also agree with you = there is a double standard in regards to religious debate. Atheists run free mocking religion. Christianity is a regular target of ridicule. Bring up Islam at poster risk.....but...I notice AJ has found a way to post stories about Islam and come through unscathed...why? (IMO) Coz his articles report on Islamic Militants.

Absolutely.

First - start with being a Gentleman. [there are tomes of etiquette involved - almost impossible for the non-readers in society]

Then add a horse--and proficiency in riding said horse for tens of miles each day.

Then add skills in cow-raising stuff...

Then add in logistics skills for transporting said cows--once raised--into the market or the slaughterhouse..

Then add in a smattering of Spanish language efficiency..

Then add in the ability to survive a gully-washer storm / hurricane / tornado [we have all of those in Texas]

Then add in the ability to used a projectile weapon efficiently (less than 3 shots to bring down a critter/varmit/predator) to protect said cow-herd...

IMO - most rednecks fail at the first item in my list - and then it becomes geographical for actual usage --- proper usage --- of that label [RedNeck] ...

I do note that I became a CowBoy at age 16... I've had other labels as well --- but never... EVER... one of a RedNeck....

Regardless the site owner is what it is. He has a passion also about the subject of the site. He has also reached out to try and resolve this issue. That is way more than any other site I have belonged on has ever done. We should be patient and see what the future brings. I am willing to to also because this site helped bring my love into my life.

That's a great question - to be certain..

What bothers me more - is the need for Marvin to do this - rather than any perceived baiting topics/threads....

If the need did not exist-- then Marvin would not spew about it... Nothing wrong with spewing--given the proper environs - IMO (and others) this web portal is not the right environ for it.

Now - what the f just happened? Why was the spew even allowed? The site owner is NOT an American - does NOT have any game in play for immigration stuff -- lives in Eastern Europe -- and was d@mn lucky to purchase the domain/site when it was last up for sale... So - for the site owner - he does NOT have the same mileau (Sp?) as you and me - and to be honest - this web portal would be in better hands owned by a native-born-American... one that understands the Civil Rights Issue in the USA...

you can expect: CRICKETS ! Silence ! NO ACTION !!!!! It's not culturally-appropriate (in his culture) to do anything about this.

As long as his google-account keeps receiving monies each month --- he doesn't care about other stuff.

Yep. I am thankful for this site as well. My wife would probably still be in Thailand if it wasn't for this place. Also, I regularly visit a Thai immigration website and the attitude there is "FU if you don't like the way we do things" Hell if you even bring up moderation in that place you get a suspension. It's in their TOS.

I have also had interactions and my feelings seems different. He has made a pledge to fix things. The mods also have been working on things. I now see members wanting to and trying to make a change. They are listening to us. Let's see if the actions match the words.

Still ridicuous. I was threatened with a suspension recently. Now this can go too far to allow unfettered criticism of mods and moderation so I can see enforcing some balance.
