I don't see a need for a "second tier" forum or more rules or anything.

The problem as I see it is that the modding is inconsistent. The new moderators lack context to decide what should be removed or not, because they don't want to read the whole thread, and cherry pick one post based on whims or to appease whoever reported it. A report does not require action, it does require a check that should come down to mods who know how to call things when they see it.

The TOS, and any "law" is purposefully pliable and non distinct, how can someone define emotions or responses? Some new mods are obsessed with the letter of the law, instead of the spirit of the law. There is no need to read the TOS daily, or make some giant list. When someone has gone too far should be fairly obvious. The problem is that some mods lack the ability or the patience to explain their reasoning.

Another problem I see is that the new mods are happy to take the easy way out and say something is locked for "bickering" or "drama," when they should have the balls to say something is locked for personal attacks, racism, etc.

I think people are perfectly able to have polarized adult conversations without resorting to name calling, racism, or throwing in pornography for fun.

If someone was openly racist personal attack etc, why not just say it. Lot less controversial than just because. Trust me if you saw some of the "court orders" written you would not think that.

As for personal attacks. If I am cool with it, and the person I am arguing with is cool with it, and both of us perfectly understand each other, and know it's not meant in a mean spirit, why should anyone else care ?

The problem = The mods become fatigued = seek path of least resistance = ban 'em and move on .

Mods are human...need to take the human out of moderation.
