It's mostly during the winter months. You probably just caught the end of it. It's mostly the afternoon and evening storms but during the winter months you can get a solid week or two of rain sometimes. I liked it when I lived there, but it really sucks if it coincides with a Christmas vacation.

Thanks for the information. I'd rather have rain than snow. Got enough of that back at home...

Lol, if this doesn't pan out, you might see me at the War College yet. But only during the warm months, I've heard it's beautiful down there. :dancing:

If I can talk Wifey into what I want to do, we won't be here much longer. I am making serious inquiries into moving south to Fla. We have enough money saved to pay cash for a nice house and live for a bit until we find work, but I'll also be sending out resumes in advance to see what I can get. Now I just gotta get her to sign off on it.

Now that's living! Glad you're sending out resumes in advance, some folks wait until the last minute to start looking for a job. Don't know why, it's best to start early to get a feel for the area.

I'm very conservative when it comes to risk taking, so I would never jump to anything before making sure we were set. I should've worded that post a bit better. I wouldn't move without either a job locked up or knowing I could get one quickly. But I've about had enough of New England. I don't have any kids and Wifey's family isn't here either so a change would be really nice. We can afford to do it now, so we might as well go somewhere nice and where we want to be. She just doesn't want to move too far from her family in Canada, which I understand, but Windsor is only a few hour flight from Fla.

I understood your post so no worries. Folks that do that are either really lucky or extremely skilled. That's the smart thing to do.

Then in a roundabout way, Florida is for you... Parts of the gunshine state look like Canadian settlements in the winter.

I'd like to think it's a little of both. If we're going to retire to some place warmer, I don't see any reason why not to buy the house now and just live there and work until we decide it's time to call it quits. The winters here are really starting to bug me as well as the quality of people, things have changed a lot round here in the last 30 years and it's not what I grew up knowing. So we might as well just go somewhere fresh. I'm not saying the people will be any better, but they might be easier to take with no snow.

True dat. Wifey has an Aunt and Uncle that spend 3 months every winter in Fla.

Comfortable weather makes the difference. Folks here act like it's a party all day long.

Everything is easier to take with no snow.

Is it difficult to find work in Florida if one can't speak spanish?

One could live in the Panhandle, otherwise known as L.A. (Lower Alabama).
