Hello there,

I am a little confused about sponsorship requirements and if someone can help to clarify it, I will be very grateful. My husband wants to bring his parents to the US (he is a citizen), but our income is only 23,000$ for 2 people (me and him). As I understand, if we want to bring both of his parents, we need to make at least 29,812$ per year because our household will be 4 people (me, him, and his parents). Now, that is where I am confused. If we find a sponsor, what should his/her income be like? For example, if the sponsor is single, should the income be 125% of poverty line plus additional 7,000$ as the difference between our income and required poverty line? How do they calculate it?

Thanks everyone

Your husband can still be the primary sponsor. If u obtain a joint sponsor they just have to make 125% above the poverty line

So the joint sponsor has to make only 11,670$ per year? It doesn't seem right.
