Case sent from NVC to Moscow, few questions

The file got to the NVC on the 13th of May and left on the 15th. I called NVC and asked for a tracking # and she said there was none. I made the mistake of not asking for the case #.

Do I need this to schedule the interview? I emailed the Moscow embassy yesterday and received a response stating that our file had not reached the their embassy yet.

Will the NVC mail me something with the case # on it? We are not in any rush really, I have to mail her some documents which will probably take 1 to 2 weeks but didn't know if I need to call the NVC back and get our case #.

Thanks in advance!

I received an email from USCIS that it had been shipped to the NVC. I waited about 10 days and called the NVC and they told me it had been received and then forwarded to the Moscow embassy.

I have heard that the NVC will mail you some sort of letter with your case # on it once they send it to the embassy but I am not sure if that is true or not.

Post Decision Activity

On May 12, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

This is what uscis site says and after few days we received noa2. That means that they send it to the nvc or we ll get another email?? Im sooooo confused! We cant contact nvc the number doesnt work :(

From what I understand they will send you another message when it is sent to the NVC. I would just hang in there tight until you get it, don't worry.

The wait time is long, but you should call the NVC and get your new case number. Have your receipt number ready as provided from the USCIS. After you get the new case number from the NVC you can check the status from this Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC):

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

You must wait for the beneficiary to be notified by the US consulate before you pay the fees.

Yes, you need the case number to schedule the interview. Either call NVC and ask for the case number, or just wait and they'll send you a letter with the case number (you should get it about a week after they send it to the embassy).

Called back and got our NVC case #. I see that they are supposed to send some sort of instructions to Diana before we can technically schedule our interview, is this true?

No, in Russia you can download all these forms and instructions online and you don't need to wait. I'm not even sure if they send them, I never got any instructions in paper mail myself. I got some 1-page letter stating that they received my case, but it arrived when I already came back to my hometown after interview sos didn't matter.

Isn't there something like a letter that they send that they would have to have for her medical and for her interview? Or does that not apply to Russia?

The embassy sends you an email (at least they wrote me an email) letting you know that the case is ready. For the medical appointment you need the NVC case # for sure (by that time you will already have submitted the DS160, paid the fee and scheduled the interview at the embassy, so having the confirmation of your submitted DS, payment and interview appointment with you for the medical probably won't hurt!).

But you don't have to have the actual letter? That's good news. I've seen several people talk about issues with not being able to receive their letter and therefor not being able to get their medical or even get into the embassy for the interview. They have to have the actual letter to show as proof. As we all know, Russia's postal system sucks. I've been waiting a month from a letter my fiancé sent me. It hasn't even left Russia yet. So the less we have to depend on the postal system for, the better!

The NVC will send you a letter once they forward it to Moscow. The letter will contain your MOS# on it which you use to schedule your appointment. You can call the NVC to get this information as well but there is really no point unless you are manic and need to know what is happening with your case every second.

Once it arrives at the Moscow embassy they will send you an email telling you that your beneficiary is now able to go online and schedule the interview.

You shouldn't need to send anything to your fiancé/e that they send you. A copy of the NOA2 approval is the only thing I can think of that they may ask for, that can be scanned and emailed.

You do however need to send them or bring them a signed affidavit of support (I-134) and a signed letter of reaffirmation of intention to marry.

I was asking for us as well as you since you're the one at that point and look..you already knew. I'm sorry! Guess that was semi-hijacking but with good intentions.Thank you for the info (:
