I-751 and biometrics appt - timing timing timing

Hi,

My 2-year date comes up on June 26, and we submitted our Removal of Conditions package a few weeks ago. It was returned because of a basic error with the check payment, so now I've rectified that and am ready to re-submit. I'm just a little worried about timing now because if I get my biometrics appointment for the week of June 2-6 then I don't think I'd be able to make it since I'll be on the other side of the country for work.

So, what would people recommend I do to try and avoid being granted an appointment for that week, obviously without risking things too much? Maybe wait till e.g. late May and then resubmit the package? Assuming the application gets accepted and that biometrics appointment lead-in time is 2 weeks (it was when I got my initial GC), that should get me an appointment mid-June. Or do people think this is a bit too risky and doesn't leave enough time before June 26 just in case something goes wrong? What about the option to just submit my package now, and if I end up getting a June 2-6 biometric appointment I either call and reschedule it or try to do an early walk-in - is this possible/likely (I'm in MD, DC metro area)?

This is all subjective obviously, so I realize there's not going to be any definitive answer. I'm just interested in hearing what other people would opt to do in my situation.

Relevant data: filing to Vermont Service Center, biometrics appt will presumably be in Maryland (Baltimore?), confident in the removal of conditions being successful (the initial GC application went smoothly for us, thankfully, and we have plenty of supporting evidence).

Many thanks :)

I don't think your bio appt will be that quick. It's usually around 30 days after they accept the application. I would say late June/ early July.

Biometric appointment usually comes around after 1 month of filing. There are few exceptional cases who don't get appointment cos it is misplaced or not sent by USCIS.Then you have to call and ask for the letter.

You can walk in to your mentioned center with appt letter before the apt date but it depends on your center too.Few centers don't accept walk ins and few might be busy on that day,its just the matter of trying and succeeding.

in very few cases after you appear for appointment fingerprints don't go through so they send you second letter to appear for bio again. It has happened in few cases but might happen so you should be prepared for it too.

Very important is ,better to postpone all travel plans and appear for bio first because it is very important step.

Its there in instructions that if you don't appear for appointment before or on date your GC is considered abandoned.its better to take bio and then go anywhere with extension letter that is your first NOA you receive after applying.

ROC sent (DAY 00) -2/21/2014

ROC received at center (DAY 03) -2/24/2014

NOA received at home (DAY 07) -2/28/2014 (NOA dated 2/24/2014)

BIO received at home (DAY 12) -3/05/2014 (bio appt on 3/20/2014)

BIO appt (early bio) (DAY 12) -3/05/2014

Approval decision date (DAY 89) -5/21/2014

Approval letter received (DAY 91) -5/23/2014

Card received at home (DAY 102)-6/03/2014

OK thanks for the input Newbie608 and flora01. I know the average is something like 30 days, but for my initial green card application a few years ago I believe the appointment was set for something like 14 days after NOA date, so maybe my district just has unusually fast biometrics processing times or something.

I think that if I send it middle of next week, say May 27, then there should be no possible way they can process my application and send me notice of biometric appointment for the following week (June 2-6). As you guys say, it'd be more likely to end up being mid-late June which is perfectly fine - not planning any travel at all this summer aside from June 2-6.

Thanks again :)

Some people were able to do bio in different states than they were appointed for. So even if you are in different states during that time you may able to do walk in. ( depends on the service center)

Which state you are going travel that time?

Thanks! I'll check that thread out but hopefully I won't need to try a walk-in appointment. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced it's unlikely I'll get the appointment for the week June 2-6. I'll be in Austin, TX that week but I live in DC metro area

Don't worry about it. You will be fine. As other users said you are probably gonna get early July appointment. Even if you are in Austin,Texas, you can do your biometrics over there as they allow walk-in.
