Hi all fellow visa journeyers, we were recently approved! Now for the NVC process...

1. Country USC resides in: Japan (until May 1st, now USA). Husband is French.

2. Is there a USCIS field office in this country / Is DCF still possible? No

3. When did you file the I-130: November 2013

4. How long had you been living abroad: 2.5 years

5. Do you reside in the country legally? Yes

6. What is the reason for your residence: work permit/ ESL teacher.

7. Did you list your foreign address on all forms in I-130 package? Yes

8. Did you send I-130 package from abroad? Yes

9. Did you include evidence of your residence abroad in the I-130 package? Yes. We provided our lease -both names included on it, as well as many other things.

10. Did you mention the fact you reside abroad in the cover letter or write a letter describing your current situation and the evolution of your relationship with your spouse (mentioning your residence abroad)? Yes, I also included the fact that I would be moving back to the states in late April 2014.

11. Has your case been "auto-expedited"? How long between NOA1 and NOA2? No, 177 days from NOA1 to NOA2. I changed my address officially on May 1st, received acceptance of this change May 5th, then received approval of my husbands petition May 8th. We went through Nebraska Service Center.

Congrats! How did you change your address? I have been trying to change my address and it is nearly impossible. The call center does not have a person there to answer questions or to change your address. I cannot ask for the AR 11 because there is a very good chance it wouldn't reach us.

Hi, and happy birthday to your little one! :) :)

I changed it all online on the gov.com website. there is a place to make a change of addy:

https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do

I hope this helps! I think you should be able to do it all online. I did it on my smartphone actually, and it worked thankfully with no problems.

Thank you! A year goes by so fast!!

Thank you for the link. I have tried it before however it requires that you put in a state which is why I was trying to contact the USCIS. Did you put in a state?

Hi USCHE,

I am sorry for not responding sooner. I can't help much with changing one foreign address to another. I changed my address from Japan to America. I think you can online though, once you change the country I think the state field disappears. other then that the best thing is to start a thread on Visajourney. People are very helpful on here and I'm sure it is a question that has come up before. Best of luck!

hey there i called the uscis 1800 number because i was unable to change my address online (my previous add was foreign and it wouldnt let me put the full zip code or submit without a state). When you call they actually give a change of address option, but you will end up on hold a long time because they will have the same problem. Once you finally talk to someone they will change it no problem.....

I am so bummed it looka like if we had filed a little later we would have gotten an autoexpedite. I am stuck at nebraska, and my priority date is feb 12th. Three months and counting waiting for noa2.

No worries! Thank you for responding!!

I changed my address online using my foreign address. For the field that requires "state" I indicated the state I plan on moving to. The next day I checked the USCIS website and I was moved onto post decision and they are sending my NOA2.

We were lucky that we only had to wait 6 months! I do hope that it will be sent to Argentina as indicated though. LOL!

Keep checking the USCIS website for status updates for your case, it looks like when you change your address it speeds things up a bit. I kept calling and calling and calling and could never get a hold of a warm body there! Good luck

Hey USCHE, I also would like to change the address online but i have a couple of questions.

If you filled from abroad, what did you put for the zipcode for the very first question (form number / Receipt number / zip code used when filed).

and then, you mentioned that you put the state where you attempt to live in the US, but does this mean that all the paper will be send to your new address in the state?

thank you!!

my case: i am french, married to a US citizen. we are living in switzerland and we filed everything from switzeralnd. My husband just found a job in Nebraska and he will be moving there in august. So i would like to change the address but I also do not want that they send the papers to another address yet.
