You will also have received instructions and a link as to where to look for the list of required civil documents. Follow those instructions as the documents vary by country. All the ones mentioned are required, yes. What else depends on what is applicable to you, including a police certificate. To obtain an immigrant visa, you need at least six months left in your passport. If your current one expires in September, get a new one now, but you can send a copy of the current one for now.

Send everything at once, as there will be no progress until they have everything they need.

Send a certified copy of your birth certificate.

Somebody got instructions that were for YOU, regarding the civil documents. If you don't have it, your petitioner does. Deal with your petitioner on this.

OK but we receive the same email from NVC same with our lawyer and I just got it about 2 hours ago.

So is not advisable to call NVC to ask about that?

The checklist you receive from NVC if emailed will have a letter attached. Open the attachmernt, it will list exactly what they are asking for. It will have a page (page 3) that says at the top of the page:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR: LAST NAME, FIRST NAME

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

______CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS:_________________________________

When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this

letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar

code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the

address provided.

______10 - COSTA RICA POLICE CERTIFICATE:__________________________

Costa Rican police certificates may be obtained only through an official request. Immigrant Visa

You can call but it's a waste of time because once you eventually get to speak to a "human", they will just roboticly read off the items in the letter you received.

There is no maybe. If you want your original documents back, take extra copies to the interview to trade for them. Don't expect your police report back.
