sure - it means he takes off of work, and sure, that means his mother takes off of work to drive his sorry @ss there, but so what? services are free. I'll leave it to you to find them.... on the internet... using the google....

he has no time off work (asked), his mother cannot take a day either (asked) he prefers I get a job, get us insurance and find us counseling and pay for it. Honestly ? I dont even want to do it anymore. I just dont.

We wanna hear stories like how he saw a deer and didn't have a shotgun, so he instinctively ran it over with the truck. But the truck broke running over the deer, so he left the truck on the side of the road, and didn't recover it, because it's blue book value was zero because the gas tank was empty. And he had to siphon gasoline outta the lawn mower to put into the truck. And so he cut off the hind quarters of the deer with his Arkansas toothpick knife that he had tucked in his boot. And he went home a happy man.....

I read of this last month, and knew it to be rife with errors.

My wife and I sat down with many people since she's been here, and she's finally understanding that she cannot operate the same way she did back home. Sure, I married a Princess, and my kingdom is fairly deep, but her approach to doing stuff here doesn't work. It took a gang of people , mostly in Chinese Congregation Mode (I wrote of this earlier) to convince her to change and put her on the path to change. Sure, I've changed a lot as well, but the point is - we've changed, both of us.

It wasn't enough that it was me suggesting stuff - heck I give advice all the time, real, reasonable, sound advice. Doesn't work with my wife, or at least it did not at first. Sure, I enabled her continuation of Chinese Mode a bit, but I thought it would die out without any side-effects or repurcussions... I was wrong on that one, yet we both made it over that hurdle and her vistas have expanded considerably...

Finally, I sought the right marriage counselor, and she's helped both of us tremendously to make it over the last few hurdles. Communication is better, tantrum count is down to almost zero, and she's been asking my advice and actually taking it....

but I digress, a bit - to make one point - no one will change who doesn't want to change. I feel it was a herculean effort by lots of folk in my environs, who had our best interests as a married couple, at heart; in the end she finally saw the value related in TRYING to change, once she got over the fear factor of actually TRYING to change.

It's been a different life, these last few weeks and we're both happy about it. Need to engage others? do it ! need to blast a cold iron upside his head? do it !

But... in the end, he'll only change because he got over his fear of change and has actively engaged in the change process. It has to be his idea, all you can do is lay out the reason why. Since you've already done that, quite well I will add, and he's NOT taken any steps, then we already know his decision-making-process is flawed....

I was in your shoes with the first ex - I won't do that again, ever...

ah poo - she's got indoor plumbing AND there's a hawg smokehouse out back. Shut up, you - she ain't been acculturated yet, as he ain't so deep in the culture....

thank you for this. I won't respond because we have been going on about me for a while (sorry to all and I blame Steve for putting my name into the thread name...is what did it ) but I will think it over and digest although...I do have to say...you need two people willing to put out some effort into this. In my opinion..he simply has a lot to work on as a human being and marriage in this case is the last thing that should be on his mind..he needs to figure out who he is, what he wants and where he is headed if anywhere at all and the think about how to make a marriage work. Not sure if it would work starting with marriage and back tracking to himself....doubt it.
