So we went and saw a house. It needed some fixing up but had newer windows and brand new carpet. (Someone did a job of painting though and the counter top needs replacing, badly.) Now hubs is annoyed because we're not pre-approved and can't just offer on the damn thing. It's exactly what he wants, in a great neighbourhood (newer cars, well taken care of houses and yards, close to two reservoirs so lots of fishing :D) Garage even has the peg board already.

So what does he do? comes home and sits on computer. Doesn't call USAA to inquire about pre-approval. Says he wants to go to chase? Now the only reason he wants to go to chase is because he knows their credit cards report to all 3 agencies and USAA does not. ONLY REASON. /facepalm.

I asked my bank if he could have a card off my account but it wouldn't help his credit at all apparently so that was moot.

Doesn't USAA have significantly lower rates on everything? It's why, despite their recent customer service, we've decided to stick with them. Couldn't get it anywhere else.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

To be fair, it's not always been bad. In fact, I would only have positive things to say about them if it weren't for the stuff we've been through recently with them.

My one complaint about their actual banking is that it costs $45 every time you want to wire transfer funds internationally. So when we "pay our mortgage", we get an extra $50 tacked on. I guess that's small to some people, but it adds up when you do it every month.

We have a similar fee with our bank + a terrible currency exchange rate. When my husband's parents were here we took money out of our account for them and they transferred money into my husband's because there are no domestic transfer fees in Denmark.

We've got to pay off my husband's loan in Denmark and it will be just a one shot deal. I hate wire fees.

Yeah way, when we were buying our car there was a list of lenders in the car dealership and their current rates, guess who was lowest (except for the probably fake claim from the dealership's own financing)? USAA.

Well, they won't go to 0, or even 0.9, or even 1.9 that GMAC, FMC, AHF, and others offer at times....

They don't beat Navy Federal. and a number of credit unions....

I bet they can't even beat Santander's lending rates. Or Abacus....

They won't touch some banks commercial lending rates either, and there's a whole basket full of other specialty lenders that most never heard of....

so, to say that USAA is always lower, is not a true statement.

oh, I forgot.....

:P

We're headed to our friends' (and fellow VJers) wedding in IL. I'm the Maid of Honor :o

Should be a nice little getaway though. I think Angus will probably be devastated when we leave him. Sad about leaving the boys.

Have to figure out something to do with the fish! I wonder if they have tablets for this type of thing.
