Shipping them home or waiting for Hubs to be bad?

the latter of course :P

(honestly sugar free items have no effect on me, i consume so much diet coke and other sugar substitutes that it doesn't faze me at all. if i binge then maybe my hands might tremble a little. i loved haribo gummies even in singapore and never had such a reaction :) )

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!

But it is TAKS, because Texas is different :P

And did you check if they're really sugar-free?

I don't believe it

they have lycasin, that's what makes them sweet. that's also what causes the bloating, etc lol.

Isn't lycasin a glucose syrup?

Maybe I'm dumb, but as far as I remember from school glucose still is a sugar...

You're correct according to wikipedia. Check out the last line in the description of lycasin on wikipedia

lots of sugar substitutes are derived from actual sugars but they are so much sweeter than "regular" sugar that the amount required to obtain the same sweet taste is significantly lower and the caloric content is almost negligible. like diet coke, it's sweet because of the artificial sweetener, but it has zero calories.

not saying its healthy though...*sigh*

Maybe I'm weird, but I actually prefer real, "regular" sugar, than some artifical sweeteners which are made from sugar and who knows what else.

But that's me :P

Have you met with the psychologist as well?

Is it practised over there?

My sister needed a psychologist evaluation as a background that the kid is ready to start school.

No, no psychologist. She had to be 5 by December 31st of the year she started Kindergarten and be able to perform "readiness" tasks like stay seated for 45 minutes, be able to write with a standard pencil, be able to listen to and follow directions, etc. Parents here tend to be able to figure out when that is. Usually the pre-K teacher will have a meeting with the parents and let them know if there is a problem with entering kindergarten the next year. Sometimes boys need more play/run time before they are ready.

Ok Short answer no don't do it.

Long answer, As a person with a disability and a mom with kids with disabilities it doesn't help. Sure you will notice a huge difference in her grades but that will only be because everything is a repeat for her. I was kept back in grade 1, the teachers told my parents how it was not failing (that's #######) and how much better I would be( it didn't matter). When my oldest was in Kindergarten they wanted to keep him back I refused, he did well in grade 1, then we moved new school grade 2 they wanted to keep him back again. I said no but I didn't put it in writing big mistake they held him back, he lost all his friends so that was not helpful, and he still didn't improve. They tried the same thing for my daughter, I refused she had the same teacher for grade 1&2 that teacher tried to fail her both years. She was a nice women but a lousy teacher she did not know how to teach kids who learn different. All she wanted to do was keep kids behind. She had a class of 18 kids and she would always fail anywhere to 2 - 4 kids that number is too high.

My nephew's teacher wanted to hold him back in grade 2, I told his mother not to do it also. She pushed that he goes on to grade 3 and he soared. Many times it is the teacher who is failing the kids my nephew did not have any issues after that.

Now if your daughter needs a bit extra get a tutor it will do more good then keeping her behind, please don't fall for the ####### about her being the youngest in the class the other kids won't notice trust me they do and it hurts or the ####### about how she won't remember because she will.

Ok I will stop because I can go on.

Thanks for that :) Another part of my concern was that she meets the age cut off in our current town, but doesn't meet it in new town, so she'd not be the oldest if repeating Kindergarten.

I'm going to attempt to enroll her in first grade in the new town, I think. If they throw a fit because she is too young then I might not fight them on it.

I also think you may be right about the teacher, she is very sweet, but my daughter plays this "I can't do it" game with adults when she knows perfectly well how to do something.

me either...

Sorry, but I can't stand screaming kids running around.

Really?

That's what kids do.
