Do they have good pizza in China.

When I went from Japan to NY I was astounded by all the food I met. So much more diversity. I enjoyed good that I wouldn't have in Japan eg cheese. However the Japanese food in NY was #######

making the right cheese is an art. they do have water buffalo there [which makes the perfect mozarella] but i dunno - it's all handled for the chinese palatte except for the western enclave areas that have set up western food places with western cooks..... and those are small in number.....

if you want good japanese food in NY you have to have a japanese native take you ... else you get tourist ####### and the tourist ####### isna nice.

We (being my wife and I) try and stay health conscious, and pizza is my Achilles heel. She actually managed to make a relatively healthy pizza with a crust made from cauliflower. Don't ask me how. I have Italian in my family so I can only really cook ridiculously heavy food.

My lasagne is the bomb, though, dawg.

hahahhaa... rice...

we were shopping for a small bag of rice on sunday and at the store the smaller bags were mostly japanese specialty rices.... when my wife drools over thai jasmine instead....

she choose some gelatinous rice from japan even after the clerk explained what's what... showing the small bag of thai jasmine rice....

i learn to pick my battles - let her make mistakes without my input if it's not a huge financial thing...

cauliflower is a great replacement for those seeking to not use carbs on a diet. i was amazed how I could use it to replace bread thingies...

otherwise - this weekend was stellar with stuff - the pizza imbibing was just a side-story.

Guess it's a consistency thing? As in you feel like you're eating something substantial. I only ever used to eat it when it was smothered in cheese.. That's one thing I'm going to miss when I get approved; English Sunday roasts.

Oh it's not like a hard recipe or anything, I guess it's just one of those things that tastes better when your mom makes it? Something like that. We did thanksgiving here last yet for our family and friends and my wife commented on how all of the food she'd prepared wasn't quite right - subtle differences in available ingredients maybe?

For one she had to use actual cheddar instead of Velveeta... (Which I'm pretty sure should be constitute as unfit for human consumption).

Hubs constantly remarks on my food how it isn't salty and just tastes a little different. I try to use decent ingredients instead of #######. Tastes normal to me, but to him, it's just a little different. I've found a few things here that I can't find in Canada but mostly I miss stuff I could find in Canada easily but not here. Now I have to figure out how to work around it or where to buy (or wait for my mother to send some as asked and promised... sigh)

He did really enjoy my turkey and stuffing last year for thanksgiving though. He'd never had stuffing made in a bird before. (I don't know how to make it out of the bird.... unless it's stove top #######.)

Oh and I introduced him to full berry cranberry sauce. Next year, I will introduce homemade. :D

making it out of the bird resembles 'bread pudding' in prep and cooking... just saying...

:D

Oh she totally bought that Stove Top stuff online from an import site too... It wasn't best. I really miss Larabars, we can't get those here so she's bringing me over a box on my return... Little slices of heaven!

my folk were big cooks when I was growing up

so I was surrounded by home-made stuffing for many years.

Mostly you start with cooked 'bread' product - of yer choice then get creative.

I prefer corn-bread stuffing over white bread when the choice is available - one of my aunties made a verra nice oyster stuffing that was incredible...

Then there is gravy. Gravy is an art.... :D
