How is the government to blame when the OP failed to follow the written instructions and fail to provide the required evidence?

Instead of the generalization that it is the government's fault when someone gets an RFE and mischaracteres it as a rejection/denial, let's focus on why people get RFEs. Generally, it's the failure to follow written instructions.

I'm stunned at the number of posters here who appear to be alluding to circumventing immigration law.

I think that they are just trying to by time, judging by other comments made about the service centers. Partly understaffed, partly uneducated ( about the process) and overloaded. All of the illegals got to go to the front of the line while all we "legals" got pushed back, thanks to somebody's president. You know him, the one that nobody said they voted for!

They have it..they have my Plane & Hotel tickets from when I visited her in China..I even sent them a picture & $12,000 Appraisal of The Engagement Ring...This entire process is a Joke..

PATFONT....I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but look at the flip-side: They actioned your file! At least that is a positive. I am not making light of your situation. Just the opposite....We need to stay positive thru this process. Doing the legal route is the way to go. If anything, I would be spitting mad at the lawyer! Where is their legal expertise in this? You made me laugh with the "Jethro" statement...I have to admit!

Stay the course! Get the letters there and keep on your way! Don't stop and refile and start over....that will only extend and cause more pain and heartache!

My atty said he's NEVER had a K1 get kicked back for such a petty request..He said it's The TSC that's the problem...we sent sooo much add'l info with our app..I asked Jethro, How can I give you a wedding Date Numnuts when I don't know when the K1's getting issued!!!..Ok, we're getting married July 4th..Better hurry up guys.!!..lol..this entire process is a joke..It's very clear they are dragging these apps on purpose...They are so overloaded and If you've ever been at a DMV office or ANY Gov't office, did you ever see the speed at which these people work? they need to be Dusted off....

Too bad you didn't know about this site before you filed. It clearly states in the K-1 Guides that you must submit that with your Petition request.

The TSC got ALL our paperwork, the Intent letters from BOTH of us was first thing we did..we sent so much paperwork in that it was overkill..maybe We should've taken ALL our pics with a Newspaper held up next to us like a kidnapping to show the date.!!!...lol

Which is completely understandable, even if it's wrong. I remember losing my cool when I got an RFE, but we handled it and the process creaked back into life. It's an emotional process, and blaming the process instead of understanding that one might have overlooked a necessary aspect of the application is expected. The answer is to fix it after having a chance to rant.

Take responsibility for you & your attorney's actions. You or your attorney forgot to send signed letters of intent by you & your Fiancee. That is why you got an RFE. I know you're just venting. But you would have a better appearance if you'd say "it sucks that I didn't know I was supposed to send those or me or my attorney forgot to send them. As a result, I got an RFE" instead of saying everything you've said.

Okay, if you sent them in, they were overlooked. It happens -- not the first time I've seen it. The answer is to send them whatever they want. The correct answer would be "We intend to marry within 90 days of my fiancee's entry to the US, as per the terms of the K1 visa." Give them a timeframe you'd like it to happen in by all means.

And sorry if I seemed insensitive in asking -- we got an RFE too and I lost my cool biggie style. I understand what you're going through.

Attention ALL K1 Visa applicants..The Texas Service center is LOADED with Morans.!!!!...I filed my K1 on 11/18/13..On 5/14/14, those Idiots kicked back my K1 for additional information..I just received their request letter..guess what they need..They want me to provide a time frame for them for when we're getting married.!!!!!!....Gee!! I don't know.!!!.. let's say 0-90 friggin days since that's that's the WHOLE IDEA of a K1 Visa.!!!!... I have had it.!!!!..now I have to send them a letter stating when & where we're getting married??? Really??? another 1-2 months DELAY now!!!!.. So, the reason for my post is this..You better make damnn sure you guys send in your application with copies of plane tickets, emails, proof you have met within past two years, any pictures need to have handwritten dates on them stating when they were taken... I did ALL that and they kick it back for a wedding date!!!..My atty is the next one to feel my wrath today.!!!..they want email from the both of you stating when & where your getting married..this has got to be the dumbest country going!!!! I pay SOOOO many taxes on my businesses & personal each year and what did I get for it?? Jethro down in Texas Service Center asking me when I'm getting married.!!!!...sorry guys, I'm going to my alternate plan from here on in..This is what we all get for trying to do the right thing.. They can ask anything what they want from you. That's the whole process you have to follow whether you like it or not. And this is not the first time I read about a lawyer failed to do the job. . You should fired your attorney. My I-129F was processed at TSC, got approved in 38 days without RFE, and no help from any lawyer except abundance great and helpful advises from this website.

I have to admit, I chuckled at this too...but unfortunately it is probably far from being accurate. If you are familiar with State/Federal employees in the state of Texas, you know what I mean . I am guessing they are also GS3's or 5's or the state equivalent which means they are not the sharpest knives in the drawer to begin with... ...nor the hardest working....

They can ask you to hop on one leg three times if that's what they'd like to see. We submitted our tax return transcript with our application (AOS) and they sent us an RFE asking us to resubmit it. Big whoop. We had it resubmitted within the week, and our application carried on. It seems like you're making a big deal of nothing much. Is this process frustrating? Yes, but you're not the only one on the whole darn planet feeling the weight of the stress.

And just to clarify for people who are calling out AOS as illegals, not everyone who does AOS does it with intent. I know I didn't. I was planning to marry my husband going the K1 route. Life threw a bowling ball down our alley, and we ended up marrying then and there. I didn't hop borders or evilly cackle my way to the US with a wedding dress stashed into my luggage. My B2 tourist visa was answered honestly.

I do not mean to take away from the seriousness of the OP's dilemma. I have to scratch my head as well....if all documentation, including letters of intent, were submitted, then how can they ask when the wedding is scheduled? How the heck can he know? Maybe they are just saying in a very polite way that they believe Congo is a high fraud country and they want a little more proof? No clue. Hang in there OP and give them what they want.
