what is the tax filling for N400

Hello VJ members,

I'm in USA as green card holder, married from USC,

we have scholarship fund from outside USA, we been to tax office to file taxes this year, they said you don't have to pay tax because there is NO W2's for any of you, it's money from outside USA,

We did the filling anyway without paying anything,

for sure i will work soon and do filing for income next years.

but my question is:

to pass the N400 interview am i have to work in USA and pay taxes or only filing without paying is enough? because in the worst situation if i didn't get work i will study, we have money from outside source.

You just have to show that you filed your return and paid any taxes that you owed. If you don't owe taxes, that's fine. There's no requirement for you to be employed to become a citizen.
