What did the bum with a case of diarrhea mouth say to the 359 pound hooker.

You can't handle The Truth

Anyways....as a multiple firearm owner and a crack shot to boot :dancing: I would not quote the author of the article as he clearly does not know to much about guns.(i love run on sentences).

I do not know the accuracy of all the myths...but some facts are questionable.

MYTH: AR-15s are like machine guns capable of firing hundreds of rounds a minute.

FACT: AR-15s fire 45 rpm with lower accuracy, around 15 max for sustained fire.

If your objective is suppressive fire, not kill, an inaccurately high rpm is the choice for troops in combat. A shotgun in close quarters is more effective. Additionally:

The AR-15′s rate of fire is not nearly as high as some exaggerated numbers I’ve seen. Sustained rate of fire is roughly 12-15 rounds per minute, and that link is for the true military M-16 version. They tend to overheat and/or jam if you shoot too fast. It has been widely reported that the AR-15 jammed in the Aurora incident.

[...]

The .223 is smaller than the hunting ammo. The AR-15 also typically uses “ball ammo”, which tends to make a narrow hole straight through the target. Hunting ammo is often designed to expand as it goes through the target, causing more damage. So Mr. Alexander is very wrong on this. The AR-15 has a less lethal payload.

AR 15 can are only capable of shooting 45 rounds per minute....and can only have a sustained rate of 15 per minute?

Must have a slow trigger finger. Any quality semi-auto you can fire a round about as fast as you can pull the trigger. If I had a high capacity magazine...like huge....you could shoot at least 120 rounds per minute. How long is he talking sustained fire? two days, a week? How long do you need sustained fire? How long will an intruder stick around while getting shot at?

Also a .223 is a popular hunting caliber for smaller game and varmints. Ball ammo? never heard of it. All kinds of ballistic tips and most are designed to expand on impact.

The ar-15 is .223 caliber and thousands use them for hunting.

Less lethal than what? The most common sold ammo is the 22 long rifle. It is a small game load. Squirrels, rabbits etc. Although the diameter of the bullet is almost the same....the .223 is waaay more devastating.

You really never heard of ball ammo .Fairly common slang for solid bullets in Combat arms circles.. Like 5.56 NATO Ball

This is still not an attempt to take away the right of the US citizen to own guns. Once again you fail to prove our own point with your own evidence. Read it, it's talking about hand guns. Hand guns are a specific type of weapon the ins and outs of why a particular group wants to restrict particular weapons I am not really that interested in. Going from this published and open agenda to an outright ban on gun ownership is a massive and unsubstantiated leap. Why are you so afraid of discussing home safety and responsible gun use and storage? Why would you not be in favour of these types of discussions?

I stand by my statement "Many of those groups want nothing less than a total ban on guns as their ultimate goal."

Why are you attempting to obfuscate the original issue? I'm not surprised you throw up issues never mentioned. I mentioned what gun-prohibition groups want and your straw man mention of no attempt to take away gun rights are miles apart.

You got quotes with the word ban, shown the actual former name of one group that contained the word ban. I showed you in their own words what they wanted -- then you duck and dodge from the word ban and my original statement in its entirety with some nonsense about "specific type of weapons."

As for your attempt to shift the debate in another direction toward "gun safety," "gun storage," and "greater safety in the home," responsible gun owners already practice such safety measures. What is there to discuss and why would you assume I'm not in favor of such?

Is it possible for you to stay focused and debate just one issue?

Good luck on debating with this one. :star:

I should've listened to you!

That would indeed include me. Guns don't make anyone safer. If you are all right with that fact, own and possess all the guns you want as far as I am concerned.

I am alright with that being your opinion. If you choose to live your life unarmed, depending on law enforcement to show up armed to protect you and your family should that ever be necessary -- I support and respect your decision to do so.

I have a different opinion, producing my weapon late one night while working did make me safer than before I produced it. The large, muscular fella staring down the business end of my .45 caliber had a sudden change of mind about taking my money.

But to each his own -- thanks for respecting my choice.
