How much did the lawyer cost you??

there is absolutely no need to spend thousands of dollars on a lawyer if you follow the guides here on VJ, and lawyers are literally thousands. You are the one who has to gather all of the documentation and information and get it to the attorney. They often miss things and in the end slow the process down because you have to go by their schedule and availability. It is really straightforward, whether or not you have petitioned for someone else in the past. I did the entire process on my own without visa journey and didn't have any problems or RFE's. I didn't even find Visa Journey until after my case was at the NVC and I had already submitted everything from the petition and evidence all the way up to and including the affidavit of support and visa application. Read the guides and study them and you can do it on your own.

To give you an idea of how much a lawyer is... we have paid our guy $10000 for the K1 and AOS. Thats it! I paid before I knew about this site... sucks! We have a pretty basic case too. In fact, were in a better situation than most as we have lived together for the last 5 years in my home country. Do it yourself! Its not worth the money!

Yes my ex wife came via K1 visa, the new form is different from the one I filed before and honestly I'm having trouble filling it out.

Many have done it DIY with VJ's guidance but my husband (then-fiance) didn't know better and used a lawyer. I trusted they knew better, but we were wrong. It's all up to you though, if you have some spare $ to burn, why not? But just remember that lawyers may cause some delay in the process and are just out to make money. All the best whichever route you take!

I would suggest that you contact a lawyer and find out if you need a waiver when filing for a K-1 the second time. I was not aware of this and do not know if it is always necessary. The cost, I don't know as my lawyer did it as part of a package when reviewing my K-1 application.

a second K-1 petition does not require a waiver, a 3rd one does...it is clearly stated in the I-129 directions.
