IMO, the CFO seminar didn't help me much on cultural differences nor did they teach anything about human trafficking. But it did educate me on my rights as a filipino in USA and if the relationship doesn't work out. It was somewhat comforting to know that there are people we can call in case we dont feel safe.

Regarding the online appointment, it is very convenient considering people had to line up as early as 3am just to secure a spot. Just not sure how well they can maintain the website since the Philippine gov't websites generally suck.

CFO is for all immigrating Filipinos. Under, like, 12 years old there is no need for the seminar, but still have to register.

If you go to the Philippines to pick up your daughter before you leave for the us, you will need to do CFO as well. Won't let you leave without the sticker once they see your visa. Was a Lady we met when we went to do the wife's CFO that was stopped from boarding the plane to Denmark(?) With her husband, even though she had been there for 10+ years already.

CFO is not that bad. Good info, and you get to meet new friends. Wife thinks its worth it. :)

CFO is a Philippines requirement, you complete it after your daughter gets her visa, it is a half day seminar and they issue the sticker at the completion.

Follow the flashing arrow below then click the CFO tab for more info.

Put it this way: The worst possible result of doing it is that you spend $8 and waste half a day. The minimum benefit is that you avoid problems traveling between Philippines and your new country. And you may learn some things that might even save your life.

Looks like the balance is pretty much in favor of spending the 8 bucks and the half day and not worrying about it any more.

I agree on everything except the "half a day" part. I was there as early as 3am just to secure a spot and got done around 5pm. Hopefully, with the new online appointment in place, it wouldn't be such a hassle to go to this seminar. It was a good experience though, that's for sure.

No early arrivals and hoping anymore with the appointment system. (nice change for sure) Slowly but surely they are improving the system. Imagine, you could have slept in that day... ;)

I have a question about the CFO. My fiancée is in manila right now cause she just got done with her medical and she is staying with a friend in manila until her interview which is june 10th. I did the CFO online appt. for manila for Friday June 6th. I know that she can do the CFO early before her interview but has to come back for her certificate. My question is can she get her certificate at the Cebu location? The reason why I ask is I have her visa pickup in Cebu which I know I can change that if I wanted but the biggest thing is you never know how long its gonna take for the visa to be issued and my fiancée doesn't want to stay in manila for a long period of time if its gonna take more than 1 week after the interview to get her visa. Another question does she get her sticker after the seminar or you have to go to the airport 3 days before she leaves for the usa to get that sticker?

Thanks

She will get the certificate at the completion of the seminar June 6th, later she can take her passport (w/visa) and the certificate to CFO in Cebu and get the sticker. All done ready to fly!

I thought you can't get the sticker until 3 days before you leave the country.

You have your wires crossed with requirements for getting the sticker at the airport... forget all of that. Hit the "delete" button...

Do CFO on the 6th as you have it scheduled, receive the certificate at the completion of the seminar. Once the visa is received take the certificate from CFO and the passport to the CFO office in Cebu, get the sticker... enjoy!
