Hi guys, i have been looking all over the US consulate web page but i am still confused as to what exactly to do and my requirements

i am 34, Australian male - single

Hospitality is my primary career skillset

I need to know what forms to get

I've been told that i need to get a "letter of offer" first, plus the appropriate form and that should be enough

I also need to know if an outstanding personal loan will result in denial or can i continue to pay this from the US

Can anyone direct me to the right forum thread for these questions?? Thanks :)

Ok.. So you are trying to secure a work visa for the USA? You do know that you first must find the job and the EMPLOYER is the one who processes all the paperwork? It is expensive for the company and they run out of visas to issue by April for the next year...

Work visas are hard to come by and require the person to have special knowledge or exceptional, skills which a USA person cannot be found for the job... Hospitality is not one of those special skills and there is no shortage of people to fill such jobs.

So it's not looking promising then :(

What other options can you suggest, i am seeing someone from NC and would like to be there with her asap - i have nothing tying me down here in Australia so i was thinking work visa to stay longterm and be able to support myself/us while i am there... is there a different way?? as far as i can tell (between our two countries) the holiday visa setup is 90 on 90 off so i could do that i suppose but it would be taxing on our relationship.. geez, i never thought it would be so tough to move to another country - especially one so tight with my own...

Thanks for your info :)

Work visa is not gonna work for you..forget about that avenue.... How bout a student visa? Other than getting engaged and filing for a K1 or just visiting on VWP... That is about it... No working however... Not easy at all... If it was, this website would not have as many people on it that is for sure..

Are you guys planning on spending the rest of your lives together or is that just a new relationship that you are not sure of yet?

Thanks Christeen, will definitely reconsider my options - 4 days trawling through consular pages and i get better understanding in minutes here!! lol....

Janice/Micah - we've only been "dating" for a few weeks but we've known each other over a year. (just got back from my first visit to see if it was the same in person)

We talked about our future and our relationship seriously and though anything can happen (we're not fooling ourselves) we both feel that we must give this all the chances we can.

She is 30 and i'm 34 so it's not teen puppy love, we really want to explore the possibilities and 9000 miles between us is not the way to do it

Back to the drawing board i suppose....

If you're an Australian citizen then investigate an E-3 visa: http://canberra.usembassy.gov/e3visa.html

You will need a Bachelor's degree at a minimum for an E-3.

Or equivalent work experience in your field, 12 years I think it is from memory. I don't have a college education and had both an L1-B and an E-3. E-3's are a lot easier on a company as all they need to do is apply for the LCA and there is no real cap (well there is but it will never be reached) so us Aussies have it a lot easier than most for work visas here.
