CR-1 visa and leaving the US for 4 months

Hi ,

Once issued a CR-1 visa and enter the U.S. Can you leave the U.S. after 2 weeks then come back again after 4-5 months for good.

The reason as follows :

- Accompany minor son to travel and see that start of school in August are well taken care of. Stay in the U.S for 1-2 weeks only.

- Return to settle mortgages, house selling , inform current employer of impending departure, etc. This period may last 4-5 months outside the U.S.

Any feedback is well appreciated.

No problem... You can leave the next day using the I-551 stamp in your passport... I would not recommend pushing it past 6 months however. (Not a rule persay, just my 2 cents to avoid issues)

No problem... You can leave the next day using the I-551 stamp in your passport...

Just to clarify for the OP, the temporary green card is a combination of the visa itself with a standard CBP entry stamp on the page next to the visa. CBP is no longer placing special I-551 stamps in passports.
