Hello everyone,

I was in a local Philippine market here in Oregon and was talking to the Filipina owner, she was telling me that if I want my wife here faster I should not be petitioning for my stepson at the same time. This really won't work as I would like to bring both at the same time and the fact that my son has never been away from his mother in his short 5 yrs. My question is should I just file the CR-1 for both of them or should I do the adoption thing that she suggested first then file for them? Its been a long process already and would like to be able to just start something so that we can get them here soon.

She certainly gave you incorrect advice. File for both at the same time.

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!" - Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945.

"Retreat hell! We just got here!"

I always recommend anyone seeking immigration advise to head to their local Philippine Market.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Don't get advice from that woman again except to ask if the mangos are fresh.

Yes file the CR-1 for your wife and stepson together. http://www.uscis.gov/i-130
