P2 expiration but want to stay on as a tourist for a few weeks.

I'm sure I know the answer to this already, but I have a P-2 active until August of this year. My wife currently lives in the US and I live in Canada. (I visit her every few weeks) Since my tour ends in Denver and my wife is in Tucson I'd love to just go see her from there. But obviously I have to leave when my P-2 expires. Is there anyway around that? Or do I basically have to fly home to Toronto from Denver, and then a few days later fly to Tucson from Canada on Tourist VISA.

You can file an I-539 to attempt to change your nonimmigrant status from P-2 to B-2: http://www.uscis.gov/i-539

This should be done before your P-2 authorised stay (as shown on your I-94) expires. You can actually file this application online through ELIS.
