2) I spoke to them on Friday and they said they confirmed that they had sent the medical file back when he had the interview, and that they would resend again. Maybe they've changed their policy? I definitely spoke to them on the phone.

That is good info for the next time somebody from the UK posts in the AOS forum they got an RFE because USCIS had no medical files on them. There is hope to get a copy instead of doing it all over again. The lady at Knightsbridge said to call the embassy because they would have a copy. But the embassy also has said they keep no paper files. It all goes in the sealed white envelope turned in at POE. Does the left hand really know what the right hand is doing? Crazy visa process!

^^ I know!! This has all been bananas for me.

Could it be that for AOS the policy is different than for K-Visas? Who knows what is going on!!

Your help has been so great though :-)

AOS requires a medical, but they will use the K1 visa medical if it's no older than 12 months.

The whole K1 file is sealed in an envelope marked "do not open" and given to the beneficiary to take to the US. It is turned in at POE. It is sent to storage at the National Records Center. When you submit an AOS application, they are supposed to order the K1 file out of storage to marry up with the AOS file. Sometimes the file gets "lost". So without a medical exam results, a new one would have to be done before AOS could be approved. Or a replacement copy from Knightsbridge would have to be sealed and sent over if they do indeed keep a copy. Makes you wonder if the person filing wasn't so good at alphabetizing and the person retrieving couldn't be bothered to look a bit. Or if it even got ordered by the contractor who opens the AOS applications. Or if it was behind the desk at POE. Or if gremlins ate the file.

gremlins. i blame gremlins!

when i call knightsbridge on monday to confirm they've sent it off, i'll ask if they keep things for the AOS so we have a definitive answer, if you want? might help others!

Not really anything to do with being for AOS. And I am sure they know little about AOS based on what they tell people about shots. The question is how long do they keep the results of the Immigration medical exam on file in their office. You said apparently forever. That's a long time.

They are closed today, so I shall ask for all other people how long they have records.

Just a quick question- we made a slight typo on the readiness checklist for when we did the medical interview (date wise) last year. Should we resubmit the readiness checklist? or will the results from the doctor be enough?

Sorry to bump- but does anyone know about the typo on the readiness checklist?

I don't comprehend your case at all so it is difficult to come up with answers for you.

But in general the readiness form is not an immigration form. It is a unique to London clerical tool so they can slot people into interviews. It gives them an idea of what you've done, who you want to bring to the interview, and when you want to travel or marry. If you say marry July 4, you will get an interview earlier than Joe who plans to marry Sept 1. If you don't actually marry July 4, it doesn't matter. If you say you are bringing your fiancé, then he can't come, it doesn't matter.

There are dates on true immigration forms that must be accurate like date of birth and there are dates on a clerical scheduling form that are not a deal breaker.
