Talk about crappy luck

I have a part-time job working as a parts manager at an auto parts store. Anyway, I opened the store today and was working for about an hour when someone comes in and says "I hit someone's black car in the parking lot...I hope it's no one that works here. It's a Ford." Immediately, I got a big sad face. I went outside only to see my car smashed in the front end. He was driving a big F350 work truck with a steel bumper and a vice on the back and it just peeled my hood like a can opener. It punctured the radiator and I'm sure the condensor is beat up. I didn't even look underneath the hood...who knows what else is wrong. I've been fighting with his insurance company all day just to try and get someone to authorize me a rental car but they have to "make sure it's a valid claim and investigate first"...what a load of #######.

It's a 2006 with less than 5K on the odometer. I've had it since September. #######. :(

mrc,

That really sucks out loud!!

Well, hopefully the insurance can restore the vehicle to new condition. Be sure to have the frame checked for damage, you may be able to get a new car out of this mishap.

Sorry to hear of this misfortune. At least you were not in the vehicle!!

Cheer up buddy!!

the worst part is that once a car is damaged like that they can't ever get it perfect again.. they can get it really close so that most people wouldnt be able to tell, but now there has been damage and stuff like that tends to show up on a vehicle history record too... crappy crappy.. :(

de_sjiem,

You make a very relevant point, yet, if one is persistent, you can get very close to perfect.

In the case described, the entire front clip can be replaced, along with the radiator and AC condenser. Not to mention any other front end steering and stability linkages, that were affected. With the car being very new, the paint will match almost exactly.

Key to all of this, the frame must be undamaged. Otherwise, body parts will misalign.

mrc, be sure to take the car to the best Ford dealer in your area, the one with the best body shop.

Clearly, that is a good idea, but a realisitic expectation? Absolutely not.

mrc, try the above first, then plan B. All the best to you.

It never hurts to ask.

MRC, you dont have to settle for whatever they offer you, tell them you HAD a NEW car and You'll only settle for a NEW car...if they are hard of hearing, Hire a lawyer..you can get what you deserve which is what you were robbed of by their client...A new car.

Tell your ins co you want a new car like you had and they can sue the other party's ins co.

Good Luck!
