When I went to apply for SSN,I was told by the SSA clerk that she couldn't issue me SSN because I only have few days left from the date of my I-194 admission.I told her that we just got married this week, and were about to apply our AOS next week. The clerk said I should apply for extension of my I-194 in Homeland Security so that she could gave me SSN,I have no idea if there's such a thing of extension for I-194 for a K1 visa. Is there anybody have idea about this or went through on extending I-194?

For a K-1 visa holder -

there is no such thing as applying for an extension of the I-94 .

Sorry you two missed the first window to apply.

The next window pops up after EAD in hand.

The next window after that pops up after GreenCard in hand.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I-94 is your arrival information, which defines the 90 day legal stay for a K1. The SSA employee was incorrect and you can't request for an extension. However, you need to have at least 15 days from your POE date so you can apply for a SSN.

Anyway, you don't need a SSN to file AOS. You can go to the SSA office again once you have your EAD/AP card.

I asked the clerk if I could apply SSN when I got my EAD and she told me that I should extend my I-194 before I get out of status?Im clueless of about what she told me and seems she doesn't know about this EAD thing for k1 visa holders.

The people at the social security office are not immigration people. It's like asking your car mechanic about your sore foot.

When you receive your EAD you can apply for a social security number as your EAD gives you work authorization.

you actually do not need ssn to file for AOS, where they asked for ssn in the applicatiuon just leave it blank or you write none....your best bet is after you receive your EAD or your green card but b4 then the ssn is not as vital as u might think it is in AOS
