I have a quick question. I have the desire to have a beach wedding ceremony. So after my fiancé comes here and we get married (its going to be just a court house wedding...nothing fancy which isn't my style...lol) how long after were married and we do the Adjustment Papers will it be before he can travel back to Jamaica? I want to start planning an actual ceremony there in Jamaica and would hate to have to come back with no hubby! LOL Thanks guys!

You'll need to apply to Adjust status and include the Advanced Parole application to. Might as well do the EAD. The EAD and AP usually get issued with in two to three months after applying.

In addition to Caryh's response, the cost for EAD and AP are waived when filed with AOS. You can apply for AOS, EAD & AP right after you have your marriage certificate at hand (not the marriage license). Recent timeline for EAD/AP card is about 60 - 90 days from NOA1.

In the mean time, you can start filling out AOS forms. VJ guide here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Do check-out USCIS site for the updated forms though. All the best!

If you apply for AP when you file for an AOS, then you should get AP in about 3 months.

You will need either AP or a green card before departing that US. Leave without one of them, and you will abandon the AOS.

If you make plans and AP does not arrive in time, then it's your problem. Don't expect USCIS to expedite the AP because you may not make your Jamaican wedding.

Wait for AP or the green card before you put money down for a Jamacian wedding.
