That is awesome, good for you, good luck with your trip to USA!

Guess what!!

I GOT MY VISA TODAY!! 104f439dbef97bad2ee2add4b549c2e1.gif

We are so happy aec744e326504d9a5963137b9ddf9c89.gif

Everything was ok with my husband's financial papers. They just over-looked some of his financial info. He showed low income just because he spent some months with us in Ukraine - so did not work much time. But they over-looked his assets..

From the U.S. Embassy in Kiev: "Medical exam results for the beneficiary and any dependent children".

Just noticed this. My fiance has a 13 year old son, so he needs to accompany her to Kiev for a medical exam also?

All "K" & immigrant applicants (regardless of age) require a medical examination before the visa can be issued

YMMV

Thanks, fwaguy. One other thing: I also noticed that the U.S. Embassy sends the packet containing the information as to what the beneficiary has to bring with her to the interview in Ukrainian. That may be fine in western Ukraine, but darn near everybody east of the Dnieper speaks and reads Russian. I'm curious as to how much of a problem this has been for the Russian speaking ladies. Ladies?

Thanks, but I'm not worried about the Embassy. What I am worried about is the set of instructions that will be sent to her in Ukrainian, telling her what documents, etc. that she needs to acquire for the interview.

It has been awhile but I think the instructions are in Russian also to send out or on the website of US embassy in Kiev.

From the Embassy in Kiev's website:

When we receive an approved I-129F petition, we send information to the beneficiary. The Information packet (the former Packet 3 and 4) tells the applicant what documents he or she must collect prior to the visa interview and how to schedule the formal visa interview. The Information packet for applicants from Ukraine is in Ukrainian. We also have forms in English.

However, I have since spoken with my fiance, and she is not too worried about this. Thanks for your replies.

I know I am too curious and I am not in US yet. But who knows what I should do or happens next after I arrive to US on immigrant visa?

Do I have to go through adjustment of status. Or I just wait 3 years and we apply for naturalization?

Can anybody tell me briefly. I will read all the instuctions and detailed guides later on..

No adjustment of status if you arrive on an immigrant visa.

If you are arriving on an IR-1 then you will receive your 10 year green card

If you are arriving on a CR-1 then you will receive a 2 yr card and you need to remove conditions upon expiration.

Naturalization is an optional choice which could begin as soon as 3 years after arrival assuming you meet all the eligibility criteria.

Thank FWAGUY!!!

I arrived to US a few days ago. The flight was a challenge for me having one-year -old son with me.. But we managed Ok..

We adjusted to the time change pretty well..

I have read somewhere that my hubby and I need to file some paper when we have our 2nd wedding anniversary. has anyone heard something like that??

How long does it take for a green card to arrive?

When should I apply for my SSN?

Removing conditions is only required if you receive a conditional greencard...

Apply for SSN is dependant on how you indicated on the DS-230 Part II.... Did you indicate you wanted DHS to notify SSA automatically?

YMMV
