Ah great - we live in New Jersey, I’m originally from a small town about an hour from Tampere actually,  but came to the US a few years ago after several years in London. My husband is from the Dominican Republic but has lived most of his life in the US.

Hello, not sure if any other Finnish-Americans still in the process but I thought I'd say hello. I'm in Finland and going crazy with the NOA2 wait for CR-1... It is so frustrating not knowing when I can go back home to my husband. I am hoping that the final embassy stage is at least a smooth one once we get that far. I'll gladly take any hints :)  ( I've had L1 interview before and that was quick)

Katri said everything perfectly and is correct with all of the advice given as that is what my wife did. Bringing multiple birth certificates was also very beneficial prior to coming here so you don't need to wait for multiple certified copies in the mail if you need additional which in Maryland we did so it was helpful having them already. The prescriptions as she said will not be an issue but again make sure it is in English. My wife kept her FInnish bank account as well so as Katri said make sure you bring banking codes for you to use. When you get a chance look at my Timeline as my wife wrote reviews as well as questions they asked you at the border and so on upon moving here that I think you will find helpful. Let us know if you need anything else :)

Hi! Sorry to bring up an old topic haha! For what purposes did you actually need the birth certificates? I know that for AOS they ask for a copy.. I'm asking because currently I have one birth certificate with apostille and the magistrate sent me 2 wrong ones (I ordered birth certificates, they sent me extract from population information system).. So if I can get one more real birth certificate would that be enough? I'm moving pretty soon so I am kind of freaking out!

Interested in any info for moving forward as well, least to plan at this point, or expect what can happen. My partner is from Turku, and we just got the NOA2 end of August. I'm not holding my breath for any progress on NVC or Embassy level until 2021, tho. ☹️

For those who might be waiting on K1 from Helsinki. The response I got inquiring about the application of the NIE to our case.
