Can anyone tell me the best way to meet your girl and get to the hotel from the airport. I know that you can get one from the airport desk but can you get the person that's waiting for you? Thanks for the help!!!

Greeters are required to wait outside. There's a waiting area there.

The metered taxis seem to be a better way to go. My fiancee just got back from her medical exam in Manila. When she took the taxi to the hotel it was not metered and they charged her P750. Going back to the airport it was mtered and it was P250.

Just make sure you agree on a price before you step into the taxi. Also, usually the taxi that isn't so eager to get you a ride is the one's that are cheaper than others and more reliable.

My wife always hires a driver to take her to the airport to meet me (getting there early and waiting until I get there) then the driver takes us wherever we need to go. It might cost a little more but is great for me not having to deal with getting my own ride from the airport. I'm not sure where she finds the drivers, but I'm sure she could ask around. And yes it costs more, but really isn't all that expensive considering.

Hey Bud,

I think theres no problem in getting a taxi or the waiting .But to make sure, you can either contact

a local taxi operator who can wait for you or arrange the trip for you.

My fiance made his surprise visit last Nov and he just flag a taxi in the airport and works fine.

I can recommend you a travel agency that can help you out for taxi thing, email them and

they will wait for you.

http://www.filipinotravel.com.ph

Nissan and Avis taxi is the best choice for taxi in the airport.

Or the best way is let the hotel where you gonna stay to arrange a taxi for you.

Hope that will help .

I personally arrange for my own transportation and have them pick up my fiancee then wait for me behind the gated area where everyone waits. I do this because we do not stay in Manila. It is more expensive but a lot less hassle after flying all the way there.

If staying in Manila, have your hotel arrange a pick up or meet your fiancee at the waiting area and catch a metered taxi. I was just there and a metered taxi to Malate is no more the 150-200 peso. I think the meter actually read 110 peso from the Exec Plaza near Robinson Mall. Good luck, Ken

I had my fiancee meet me at the airport too and she handled the communications with the cab driver. But if you want to get one on your own and meet her at the hotel, there is a desk/booth inside the airport that will arrange a taxi for you. That is the safest way to do it. As another said, make sure it is a metered taxi. If it's not, get out and find one that is. There will be lots of taxis there. Some are legitimate; others are looking for naive tourists who don't know any better. Even agreeing on a price beforehand does not guarentee that's all he'll be asking you to pay.

The Swagman offers free shuttle service. You might also contact some of the hotels like the Bay View to see if they offer anything from the airport. Good luck

Hello.. airport taxi's have fixed rate depends where you want them to drop you off.

Everytime my fiance went here, I always there at the aiport to wait for him. You just ask the driver that you your fiancee is waiting for you and have him pick her where she at at the waiting area.

Or best, if you booked for a room with pick up at the airport, then tell it to the driver, then he can go round the waiting area.

Good Luck and have a safe flight.

I'm still looking for something to do to burn about 5 hours near the airport from like 6AM until 11AM on Saturday morning Feb 10. There's no way I'm sitting in Terminal 3 (Cebu Pacific Air) for that long, it really sucks. I'll have all of my bags with me. Is there anything nearby, a coffee shop, restaurant, cafe? Anything??? Forget the malls, as I'll have my bags with me its not practical.

Gary, really wish I could help you. I assume the 5 hours is after clearing customs, immigrations and baggage? They do have VIP lounges for a fee inside Terminal I but I am not sure about #3. Unfortunately Manila is not set up with a USO or something like Korea where you can shower and rent a bed, locker...etc for long lay overs. It would be a little dangerous dragging all your bags all over town in my opinion.

If you do not mind a taxi ride, go to the Hard Rock Cafe at Gloretta Mall. I have friends living in Manila and they all said the same thing.... without friends or family in Manila, there is not much to do during a lay-over. Ken

Not sure what you are referring to with the fixed rates unless you are referring to the Hotel taxi area upstairs by the exit of baggage claim? If so, they are way to expensive but convient. They charge a flat rate to Makati of 500 peso... to P Burgos St, Oxford Suiets when a meter taxi cost about 200 peso. The difference of $6 may not make much difference to some people, but I am Kuripot when in the PI and want the same prices as the Filipino, not the tourist. Ken

Hello.. airport taxi's have fixed rate depends where you want them to drop you off.

hello, Im not referring the Hotel Taxi. These taxi are those airport taxi's. :)

In NAIA, you cant get a metered taxi from a waiting area because they have airport taxi. Metered taxi are not allowed to pass at the arrival/waiting area only at departure area.,but if you want, you can go upstair at the departure area and pick metered taxi there with your luggage In Centennial airport, you can get a metered taxi at departure area.

Just be careful with dealing with metered taxi drivers because sometimes they charged too much and will always complain that they dont have passenger on their way back.

Posted

Destiny, Now I understand. You can however get a taxi at the arrival area just by asking on of the guards. There are approved taxis for the arrival area. Some have meters and some do not. I have never had a problem catching a taxi at the arrival area. i have had issues getting one that was willing to run the meter.

I still suggest arranging for a pick up through ur hotel or some other means.

BTW, begining you sentence with 'Hello.." tends to be taken as sarcastic or as an inference to the individual your are replying to as being dumb. I am sure that was not your intent and probably just a greeting at the beginning of ur reply. Ken

Better let your fiancee arrange for the transportation. If she knows someone, she can rent a private car to pick you up at the airport. Whenever my fiancee visits me, I always contact a friend or a neighbor to drive for us back and forth (me to the airport and then us from the aiport to the hotel) for PhP1,500. It's safer and I think vert economical since we don't stay in hotels in Manila.
