Hi, new here and was just wondering if anyone has seen when the next lottery application dates start? I've looked it up on the state dept. website, but I think it's still too early? I already know my boyfriend meets the qualifications, just looking to find the next start date........ Any info would be appreciated :)

Thanks everyone and good luck to all!

Higher chances of getting fiance or spouse visa vs. DV lottery, but if that's your path...

In the past years, the entry period opened around beginning of October for a month.

ROC 2009
Naturalization 2010

Yes, entries are normally open for a month in October.

I'm curious as to why you say it's your only option in response to milimelo (sounds like you are USC?) - don't want to get married? Presumably not for an ineligiblily, as winning the DV does not waive those. Bear in mind that even if he wins the earliest possible date he could get a green card would be October 2015, and could get it as late as September 2016.

Thanks SusieQQQ, we would love to do the K-1 or CR-1 right now, but there are circumstances in which we can't do that, at least by the end of the year. So we figured the next earliest option is for him to enter the DV in October.

I do have a question about the order of the process, do you:

1) enter in October,

2) find out in May if you are selected, then if yes,

3) keep checking the VB each month to see if your case # is called to schedule an interview?

I appreciate the insight, we're trying to learn and be prepared!

Bear in mind interviews take place between October and September following the selection, so even if you win it could take up to two years after entering to get a visa - or not at all, if they run out of visas before your case number is current. Egypt generally has a lower cut off number than the rest of Africa too due to high response rate to DV.
