Haha. I better get on an online dog dating site so I can start the romance. :)

She's an 8 pound shih tzu. Already called Delta and would have her as a carry on.

I'm not sure what specific documents I need though.

Anyway, thank you! Your reply did put a smile on my groggy face!

There has been some here who have successfully flew their pets to US. I think one of the critical factors would be cost which is airline-dependent, and most likely you will need to secure some certificates.

Easy Peasy. Go to the CBP website and inqurie about the form that must be used for the dog to enter the US, basically a vet exam and up to date on shots prior to leaving. Some countries have exit requirements for pets.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

My then-fiancé ( my now husband) and I brought my 2 cats and my PoE was at Detroit International Airport. Though it was difficult to get paper from my country, but officers at Detroit were nice and did not even ask about the papers that we were prepared. Also, when I was there, I saw dog in big container. So, you would be fine. Just make sure you have informed the airlines about bringing pet with you. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

The dog is allowed in-cabin, as long as it can fit in the approved kennel, and can move pretty easily. The kennel is considered as one (1) carry on baggage. Check with the airline you are using.

You need to get a export permit from Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), their office is located in Visayas Ave, Q.C. you dont need to bring your dog there, just bring the 'health certificate' from your dog's vet. Note that the 'health certificate' expires after 10 days.

Depending on your port of entry, you might need to check with the state veterinarian if you need an import permit for your dog.

But per CDC - you just only need to present the BAI permit (that will show that your dog has updated rabies vaccination).
