Hello all! After 5 months of waiting, we finally received our NOA2 dated May 6 with no RFEs! We are anxious to get the process moving faster since the situation in Ukraine is so uncertain at the moment. Please help with a few basic questions!

1. Do I wait to receive a letter from the National Visa Center or can I call? If so, how soon can I call? Will they provide me with the KEV number?

2. How long before the paperwork is in Kiev and we can schedule an interview appointment?

3. I am unemployed (but looking), have almost enough cash in the bank, but plan on having my brother co-sponsor. For myself, I plan on submitting the Affidivit of Support 3 years of tax returns, bank statements and letters from the banks. Since I do not have an employer at the moment, I can not submit a letter from an employer or payslips. As for the co-sponsor, I plan on submitting the Affidavit, 3 years of tax returns, pay stubs, and bank statements. Is this enough or does someone have suggestions of anything else I can provide?

4. For her medical exam, it states that 3 full frontal view 50mm x 50mm photograps are required. Are these the standard "passport" photos or something else?

Thanks everyone for your responses!!!!!

Frank

Congrats Frankie! More waiting is still in your near future, but it will go by quick.

It will take a few more weeks to go to NVC and then off to Kiev. For us, it took about 4 weeks until she received the letter from the embassy. We received on NOA2 on Mar 27th and the letter from the NVC wad dated April 15th. On the NOA2 I received, it stated to contact the embassy in Kiev for the KEV. When I called NVC they would not give me the case # due to this verbiage. Don't know if standard verbiage, or not. I was ok with it, because before I started calling NVC I waited 2 weeks. Then, BAM, I received the letter.

If you go to the Embassy website you will get the answer to the medical and a lot of other questions. Here is your answer for the passport photos: http://ukraine.usembassy.gov/iv-medical.html

Follow the directions to a "T" and you should be fine. Start preparing all documents now so you can send them to her.

Once you get your case # then it is time to pay the bank for the DS-160 AND then you can start looking for your interview date. When we looked, I could not believe on open May was for appointments. I think we could literally have gone the next day!

Good luck

Now it's all easy=)

Both of you will get a mail. Don't be stressed and just wait for first one that will come to PETITIONER, saying that your case is at NVC.

In it you will also find case number and line that you may already finish form DS-160. That's pretty much all you need right now.

When you get case number you can take it and scheck your status here https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=WwjqOlbeRYzCYubaSQI+RA==

When it says "READY", your fiance can call to medical center and appoint her medical exam without waiting for her mail (just send hed scan of your mail so she can show it if she will need it and so she will have case number).

Interview can be registred online as soon as you get your medical done. You don't need to have date of interview or wait for documents to be in embassy for medical, you need only case number. So finish with all papers and shedule it later.

Don't bother to call anywhere =) they will tell you to wait anyway. Just wait for the first mail =)

Meanwhile you can collect more proofs, police certificate and send her affidavit of support.

As for pasport photos - they need to be same as the ones you used for petition. 5x5cm (she can just tell "I need photos for US visa" and people who will print photos will do it right, they know what to do). Same one she will need at interview at embassy so i suggest to do around 6 or them (3 for medical and 3 for embassy).

Hey there! Congrats on your approval. I called NVC a week after NOA2 and they did not have my case. Called a week after that and they did! I'd say give it at least 10 business days. I didn't get my letter from the NVC until after my case had already left there and went to the embassy, so I wouldn't wait around for that. Good luck! It seems to get better and less stressful after NOA2 :)

May I ask, when you called NVC, which option did you press when it asked if your case was one in process at the NVC or one in process at an embassy? or did you do something different? :)

To be honest, from what I remember when I called I think the only thing I pressed was for English haha. I called at 7 AM my time so I was half asleep both times.. :D Then after being on hold for 30 minutes, they asked for my receipt number and the second time I called and they had my case, they asked for beneficiaries name and birthday. If there is an option, I'd say at NVC.

Hahah understandable! I picked that one, and they just don't have our case yet. I'm hoping it's there soon. I'll just keep calling back using that same option from now on. Also, I'm going to follow your timeline on here, were also London embassy, so it's nice to see someone close to our dates, to see how it progresses!
