http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/462070-status-readywhat-does-this-mean/ is a thread I found that explains the CEAC stuff, as to how it relates to K-1. The distinction is important because it's different for IR-1.

Can I call the NVC and see if it was shipped without getting a notification? Guess I need the SRC number right?

That's how I got my Case #. I mean, they should be able to give you your Case # at least, even if it hasn't shipped. As long as it has appeared in their system, they can give you the Case #.

How could it have arrived at the consulate that fast?

I'd be really surprised if it made it already. I mean, I don't know. I didn't check the CEAC website till today.

OK so I have been doing a little bit of research and it seems that usually a day after your case number is assigned, the file is shipped to the embassy. Then 3 days roughly to arrive at the consulate...so it could be there already. I know it doesn't always go this fast but sometimes it does so it is possible! I guess now you should make sure you fill out the DS-160 and readiness form!

I also found out that the CEAC website can take a while to update status so is not always reliable. It can still say 'in transit' for a few days after the file has arrived at the embassy.

But it wouldn't go back to "transit" after it already said "ready", would it?

I tried calling. Person on the line didnt want to give me any info. She told me that my fiancee had to call. Dang it. She will probably be home late today. Damn it. I just want an email saying it has been shipped to the NVC. Lol that is all!

You called NVC not USCIS right? Weird. I'm the beneficiary and NVC spoke to me every time I called them. They didn't tell me my fiance had to call. It was only when I had a case number that they asked me to give my name and date of birth and also my fiance's and then they could give me the number. Maybe just try again and talk to someone else next time? Although if they can't tell you anything it is probably not in the system yet :(

I received a notification last week that mine has been shipped on August 28th and NOA2 on the 25th, is it the right time to call or have to wait more?

No hardcopy yet

You can call anytime to check, you don't have to wait. If it's not in the system they'll just tell you that and you can try again the next day and keep trying until they give you the case number.
