Can any of the filers who have gotten their letters give the rest of us a heads up as to the documents that we need to start preparing... getting anxious again

I have a question for those who have been approved-

Have you had visas in the past or is this your first time applying?

My fiance has been working in the US on and off (more on than off) for years and has had the "alphabet soup" of nonimmigrant visas. He's never had any issues, pays his taxes, never overstayed a visa, and had no problem getting here as a tourist 2 months ago but I'm starting to worry that his extensive history may cause a delay....

I'm not approved yet, but my fiance has never been to the U.S. before or applied (except for applying for a visitor's visa after the fiance visa was filed - it was denied since he had the fiance visa petition in motion). So, different situation than yours, but we are still waiting with him having no track record in the US.

Hope we all get our NOA 2, this is another week of torture :goofy:

I initially misread that as "This is another week of fortune"

Hopefully there is more fortune than torture this week :dancing:

So, I finally broke down and did it: called the USCIS 800 number. Told me what I figured they would: it is at TSC for processing, and they are currently working on Dec. 31 cases, so mine is within "normal" processing times. I don't think I feel any better after calling :clock:

I previously had a J1 student visa, like about 10 years ago, and then all other visits to the US have been on the VWP/Esta. The long wait for NOA2 is all about background checks on the US citizen, the petitioner, and they don't look at your fiance's history during that time (unless I am mistaken), so I cannot imagine why having previous visas would affect the timing of the process. They might question your fiance more extensively during his interview, but I still can't think why it would be a problem. You say he has never overstayed so it's fine. Millions of people travel to the US and spend time there and work there, it isn't an issue. The fact that he has been able to get visas can only be a good thing surely?!

I guess on the one hand it's good to feel like you are doing something, but all I have ever received from calling USCIS is crazy frustration. And each time my fiance would smile and say 'I told you so'. Grrrrr!!!!

We all know the December 31st date is a LIE!!!

The good news in there should be another update in the next 2 weeks, and we all know by July 31 they had caught up quite a bit. Hopefully they'll be atleast down the 5.5 months. I thinking about starting to contact our senators because by that point we will be at 5.5 months...

Thank you! I needed a reality check. I'm just starting to stress that something will go wrong and am in disbelief that this will ever happen!

I would love to be able to stop worrying about this and plan a wedding already!
