Yes.. at least you'll know they are looking at your file... an RFE you can deal with ... the relentless wait is the difficult part. Hope it's soon .. you've done your time (F)

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number
Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere,and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

I'd rather get an RFE, knowing they touched the files, then having to wait another two more months. It won't be pretty but at least it's movement. Some people have been receiving calls in regards to the RFE to cut down on time.

I was very nervous about getting an RFE. When we send in the paperwork, the passport pictures of me weren't U.S size. I googled/looked up/asked about this and I had gotten mixed answers. Some people who had done the same thing got an RFE asking for U.S sized pictures, others did not.

So when we first got the email from USCIS I was slowly reading through it and once I saw the word "approved" I may very well have jumped through the roof. I was just expecting to get an RFE.
Now I sincerely hope I can get an interview within 1-1.5 months. But looking at timelines the average seems to be more 2 months. I just want to be there by October/November :(

February 15th - sent package to Dallas. Took a long time to get to Dallas because of weather conditions and delays.

March 3rd - NOA1.

March 5th - Received alien registration number.

August 21st- NOA2.
September 8th - NVC received package and assigned case #
September 11th - Embassy received package.
September 16th - Received Packet 3.
September 17th - Sent packet 3 back.
September 23rd - Received packet 4.
October 14th - Medical.
October 21st - Interview. - Interview approved, visa granted!

November 1st - Moving to the U.S.

I've never seen an RFE after 5 months of wait... Does that even really happen? That's just cruel!

Frequently ! A January filer JUST got an RFE! After 8 months!!

I got an email this morning at 9am EST to tell me that our file has been shipped. That's exactly 6 days after NOA2, not bad at all.
