Okay, here's your encouragement. Being apart sucks. I think everybody on here understands what you're going through, to an extent. My wife and I were apart for 424 consecutive days, and it sucked the entire time. But here's what you need to remember and focus on. While I remember the number of days, I don't remember any of the sadness. You are going to be like me. Once you make it through this, and you will make it through this, you will find out that it really was all worth it. You will have so much time being happy together that you won't even care or think about this difficult time; except to say that it was all worth it. This time you're apart - remember, it is nothing compared to the lifetime you will have together.

Honestly though we are talking Politician here. It is OK to lie to them. Just do what I do when I am forced to lie to my wife because she wants my honest opinion, give a couple of bucks to one of them fake homeless people on the street corner. Everything evens out.

Someone once told me that the only job for a politician is to get re-elected. Everything they do is aimed at that single job. Use that to your advantage.

If you won't say you voted for them, say it differently. Say you're a supporter of theirs and that's why you're going to them for help, blah, blah, blah.
