Montreal Consulate Question

I have my interview scheduled for June 25th. I was just curious about the area around the consulate. I will be driving,there and back the same day(10 hour drive each way) so am wondering if there is any parking available?? And is it very hard to get to?? I've driven through and in Quebec a few times and I absolutely dread driving in Quebec. Also when do when sign up for loomis and typically how long does it take for medicals to be available for pick up?? How long will it take if I have them send the medical to me?? Was thinking of having medical done in Toronto(5 hour drive) a few weeks before my interview and just have them send me the results. Can't afford to stay in Quebec for a week.

That is ambitious driving there and back the same day...I know it was a couple hours waiting at Vancouver...I'd imagine it being similar in Montreal. Maybe look and see if there's a really cheap hotel on the fringe? I mean you're looking at a 22-24+ hr day of being awake and driving for most of it.

I took my medicals in Toronto ( Dr Ian Zatzman). It took about 10 calendar days to receive my medicals (paid $15 for courier within Canada). very prompt service thou.

When you schedule your interview appointment, you will choose a loomis branch to receive your passport with Visa. apart from that you don't need to do anything with loomis. They will contact you when they receive your passport.

Inside the consulate you would need between 1-2 hours to finish all the formalities. I went by Via rail from Toronto & stayed in Travelodge. stay & commute together cost ~250/- including taxes. it gave me peace of mind! definitely worth the money.

There is no parking available at the consulate. I imagine you would have to pay a meter to park on the street. 10 hour drive is a lot for the same day! I would drive there the day before & stay at a hotel, & walk to the consulate. Way easier in my opinion!

there's a parking lot on corner "place Philips" and "cathcart st". it's a 2 minute walk to the consulate.

I would not drive there and back in 1 day. You should get a hotel for the night. The consulate is first come, first serve. I cannot imagine being at your freshest or in the best humour after a 10 hour drive at 8am waiting to be called upto a window for a visa interview.

If you don't like the idea of a hotel, there are some hostels that are also close by and not expensive.

Oh yes b'se you are not in K-1 but thru IR-1/CR1. You can register for loomis anytime before your interview date.

Hi

First you need to book an appointment at least 2 weeks before the interview. (I am assuming you have all vaccinations record appropriate to age of the immigrant). Else start with having vaccinations done now & get a record that will save you money.

You can even call them prior to your appointment to know what you have to bring.

On the appointment date, give the receptionist, 3 photos, Fee in cash, vaccination record and your application number (MTL#). Then they will allow you to see the doctor. he will ask you few questions about your medical history, any previous surgeries, vaccinations etc., Then they will send you to blood work & X-ray in the same building but in different rooms.

You will have the option of collecting the medical sealed envelope in person or get it couriered to your address (you have to pay $15/- courier fee).

Within a weeks' time, you can expect your results.

Overall it was a good experience going to Dr Ian Zatzman.
