We thought we were ready to get medical and so my Fiancée scheduled an appointment for the 21st. But, found out we needed to have an appointment letter at the medical. So, we were going to go online to get an interview date, so that we could get an appointment letter fo the medical.

I sent an email to the embassy as follows

"We received the Approval letter December 2, 2013 and we had waited a bit to proceed with an interview. So, now we would like to continue with the K1 visa, We have received the checklist from the embassy a while ago and we have finished doing the DS-160 online. Do we need to set up an appointment for the interview before we do the Medical and if so would we be able to do that online? My fiancée said she scheduled an medical appointment for the 21st of this month. Does she need to have an Appointment letter for the medical appointment? If so how do we get the interview appointment letter?"

The response back was the following

"Your fiancée should not do her medical as yet until we instruct her to do so. As for first step, she must complete and submit her checklist confirming her documentations. "

From my understanding the DS160 has replaces some documents that they are asking for in the checklist

the link to her embassy does me little good as it is just as confusing

What is need to be able to have them send her info needed for the medical.

Or do we just have to pay the 240 for interview and then download the appointment letter to show at the medical.

As each embassy is different, this may vary.

For vancouver, they wanted a confirmation that you have checked off everything on packet 3. This includes filling out the DS-160 and similar. They want to make sure you have everything on the list *before* they schedule the interview and have you schedule the medical. I wouldn't schedule the medical until they send you packet 4.

If they're asking for it in their packet 3 checklist, you should provide it. Trust me, it's better to just do what they say. And in this case, what they're telling you to do is to go over the list of everything you need as they provided you in packet 3, verify you have it, and then submit the completed checklist. This is a good thing since in our case it look us what seemed like forever to get some things which should be simple.

So I'd hold off on the medical, and work on everything on packet 3 and get it completed. If there's something listed on packet 3 just note that you'll do that as soon as they've told you to (like the medical).
