like I think I have said before, I think the voting system is working ok because everyone who has a chance of winning American Idol is still in the competition... that being Jordin, Lakisha, Melinda or Blake...

sure some of the people that got voted off were good singers but they never would have made it to the finals anyways

What about Stephanie Edwards? I thought she was doing well but we didn't get a chance to hear enough of her to know one way or the other. There have been plenty of good singers voted off early in previous seasons as well.

Blake? Did you see/hear him this week?

Jordin voted off? What a joke this show has become. I canceled future recordings. When they change the crappy (pun intended) elimination format I'll watch again but not until.

Maybe time to stick a modem in one of my computers and use an autodialer to join the VFTW crowd.

????

No one was voted off tonight. Everyone was safe. You didn't watch it long enough I think.

I bawled my eyes out the entire program. Almost contributed but I couldn't get the link to work that tells me where my money was going.

Whaaaaa? I watched almost to the end and it was down to Lakisha, Chris, and Jordin. He said Lakisha was safe. Then Jordin & Chris were standing and he said Chris was safe so I assumed Jordin was eliminated. That's when I hit stop. If they said everyone was safe after that I missed it. Question: Was Jordin really last in votes?

No. Before he started announcing people to stand up he made a point to say that this in no way reflected where they were in terms of how many votes they got.

I agree it was aweful to do to Jordan. Since no one was to get voted off I think they should have done a one time thing and gave the contestants a heads up. That was just completely unforgiveable to do to that sweet girl!!!!!

btw I totally loved Jack Black!!!lol

12/28/06 - got married :)

I thought Phil was good but Blake was average at best. He chose one of the greatest songs of all time but it takes no vocal talent to sing it. How many times to the judges repeat the words, 'it's all about song choice'? I thought his performance was very bland and boring. Still better than band boy Chris though. I can't even listen to him anymore. He gets a full FF 3x all the way through.

Since it's 2 going, I really hope it's Phil and Chris..that would leave my fave 4 all along in...woot! Then, IMO, it should be Blake...and then it's a tossup from there on out. I loved Lakisha in the beginning, and I still do...but Jordin has far surpassed even her lately. So, as of now, I say Lakisha 3rd and I would be happy with either Jordin OR Melinda winning it. I never thought I would EVER want anyone but Melinda (SHE ROCKS!) but Jordin has been kickin BUTT and she's got the whole package they're probably looking for....youth, voice, and she's really pretty. who knows? :) M.

Elvis on 'Idol:' How It Was Done

Fans can thank technology. Last week, Dion spent hours on the stage singing her part of the song several times without an audience or anyone next to her, looking to her side on cue.

Then she did the routine again with a Presley body double who lip-synced Presley's song and matched his moves from his 1968 performance.

Finally, all three elements -- Dion by herself, Dion with the body double and the original Presley performance -- were combined through editing and a technique called rotoscoping, which traced Presley from the original footage by cutting him out.

"Rotoscoping allows you to take one image from a pre-existing piece of video and puts him a whole new environment -- completely new use of that same piece of video," Disney digital media designer Joe Husung said.

Similar technology has been used before. It brought Natalie Cole and her late father, Nat King Cole, together to perform "Unforgettable," and allowed Forrest Gump to talk to former President Nixon.

A new British show puts the technology to use every day in "Duet Impossible," in which stars perform with their late idols. If the concept crosses the pond, American audiences may soon see late legends like James Brown and Sinatra rocking the stage again.

Thanks to last's week charitable endeavor by American Idol which both raised over $60 million for some very worthwhile causes and spared one of the top six finalists to sing another week, American Idol viewers will now have a double elimination to look forward to this week. Even though last week's non-elimination surprise brought some heated criticism from American Idol purist, the draw of seeing not one but two American Idol finalists going home gives producers yet another event to hype.

So which two American Idol finalists will be next to lose their dream of winning American Idol? Despite the fact that Chris Richardson and Jordin Sparks were the last two that Ryan Seacrest revealed to be safe, it doesn't mean that they received the lowest total of votes. Before Ryan Seacrest started announcing who was safe, he said that he would be doing it in random order.

In fact, Jordin Sparks was likely at the top of the vote count, because she had one of her best performances of the competition and was heavily praised by the judges. Since people were voting even more aggressive than usual to raise money as part of Idol Gives Back, Jordin Sparks probably has a vote total carryover that will keep her safe from the bottom two regardless of how she does this week.

Phil Stacey, who has had two back to back strong performances, could also be peaking at exactly the right time. A couple weeks ago it looked very doubtful that Phil Stacey stood even a remote chance at making the top four, but if he delivers a third solid performance in a row, then he's likely to make it through.

Melinda Doolittle and Blake Lewis have probably been the most consistently great performers of the entire top twelve. However, on American Idol, talent is no guarantee of safety. Melinda Doolittle and Blake Lewis both need to deliver a wow performance that shows they've grown in the competition if they won't to guarantee their spot in the top four. They have a chance to make it even if they are just their normally outstanding selves, but they shouldn't take anything for granted.

Chris Richardson and Lakisha Jones are the two finalists that are in most need of a breakout performance. At times, Lakisha Jones has been astonishing and delivered some of the best performances ever on Idol. However, the last two weeks have cost her, as she has tried to channel Idols past and come up short in the eyes of the judges. Lakisha's not out of the game yet through. She's very capable of hitting a homerun performance, and if she does, then the other Idols better watch out, because she will lay claim to one of the top four spots.

Chris Richardson likely finds himself in the most difficult spot of all. He's been a consistently good singer, and very much deserves his position in the top six. The problem is that his competition is two great singers in Melinda Doolittle and Blake Lewis, two rapidly improving singers in Jordin Sparks and Phil Stacey, and a potential homerun singer in Lakisha Jones. The other five finalists have likely built stronger fan bases than Chris Richardson based on their past performances. Chris Richardon not only has to have a homerun breakout performance, but he also has to hope that two of the other singers in the competition have really off nights.
