Affidavit of Support Question!

Hi everyone!

Received NOA2 on 4/21 and am patiently impatiently waiting for packet 3 to arrive in China!

I have a question that I'm really hoping you all can help with.

I lived in China working with Fiance from 2011 to 2012 (total year and a half), and then went to Taiwan to study (10 months).

While I was working in China, I was under a tourist visa for the first year (they promised to change it to a working visa, but never did) and business visa the last half of the year.

So I don't have a tax return for at least a couple of years... I returned to the States in September and started a new job in October-- $45,000 a year. So my income is above poverty level.... However, since I only worked October through December in 2013, I believe my 2013 tax return may have been below poverty level (I will have to double check).

Will this be an issue?

Can I explain somehow that I have been abroad, not working, but am working a steady job now?

Any advice would be really helpful!

Thanks

They are only really concerned with your CURRENT income. Get the following information for this

-Letter from your employer showing:

1. Date and nature of employment

2. salary paid

3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two to Four pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available)

-Make sure your supervisor signs and dates the letter, as well as if your company has a specific letterhead they have for their business to use that, if not then a standard letter from them will be just fine.

Thanks!

Just got news that he received Packet 3! :)

The I-134 has to be an original copy with original signature, right?

Do I have to send it in the mail, or can I just scan and email to fiancee?

If I have to mail it, can anyone with experience in sending things to China suggest which company to use?

My fiancee and I haven't had the best of luck with mail. (He sent me his signed copies of G325A in November last year and I still have yet to receive them. We gave up on the mail getting to me and I just waited until my January trip to get his original signatures in person)

And one last question, I am terribly unhappy at my current job-- my supervisor is a egoistical bully trying to find a way to get rid of me, he doesn't have any solid reasons yet, but I imagine he will keep trying until I'm gone. So I am currently interviewing and looking for another job.

However, since I only worked for three months last year, I'm thinking that it is better for me to get paperwork from this job since it has been steady since my return to the states then a new one...

Once I gather all the paperwork necessary from this job, will I need to update them on my new job?

Should I wait for the new job to start and then file the I-134? (I'm hesitant to wait, because I don't know when I will find something and people have mentioned needing at least two paystubs which would mean another month of waiting for fiancee to get here)

Thanks for all the help in advance!

There is a section on the I134 talking about Copies, but I believe that is only for any supporting documents that you present (eg letter from bank, employer, etc.)

If you need to send documents with original signatures and you have issues with the regular mailing system, you could use a service like FedEx or DHL to send the documents.

If you still hold this job while you are getting approved, then you do not need to notify them of any job change. You will encounter this when you have to file for AOS and you have to fill out the I864. If you still have the same job, then no worries. If you find a new job, no worries because you can use information from your previous job and submit evidence for your new job (recent paystubs, letter from employer, etc.) But if you are out of a job when it is time to file AOS, that may be an issue.

Thanks!

I'm going to print out everything and send originals to my fiancee asap!

I fully anticipate having a job when I file my AOS, I was just a little worried because I don't have a full year of US income under my belt... Since I just returned this September after two and a half years in Asia.
