I'm working on filling out Nexus applications for myself, my husband and our daughter (who was born in the US). It asks if she has any citizenships besides American. Well, she's Canadian through me. However, it asks for documentation to prove the other citizenship and I don't have that yet. She's only 7 months old and I've been planning to do it but I hear it takes over a year to get!

So my question is... do I NEED proof of my daughter's Canadian citizenship to get Nexus, and wait for over a year, or can I just not mention her Canadian citizenship since I don't have proof of it...? If that makes any sense.

I don't want to mess up her application but I also don't want to have to wait a full year before Nexus! Sick of having to listen to my daughter cry over an hour straight in a border lineup!

They might accept her birth certificate with your name on it and your proof of Canadian citizenship as proof of her derivative citizenship. Just a thought.

June 14 we submitted our applications online. It's August and still 'pending review'... The government FAQ said it can take 2-6 weeks. Well, we're at 6 weeks. I'd like to get the application approved so we can schedule our appointments and go in for the interview, since there's probably at least a month or two wait on appointments too. I wonder if there's a holdup making it take longer than before.

Anyone gotten their Nexus recently??

Got our conditional approval yesterday. All 3 of us got it the same day - probably coz I submitted them within minutes of each other back in June. Because I wanted us to all have the same day for interviews, I phoned up the Nexus office where we were headed for and the guy on the phone was very helpful. He gave us interviews in early September (so not a long wait) and on the day I wanted (a Saturday so my husband doesn't have to take off work) and all 3 of us are in within 45 minutes. We each have a 15 minute slot but he said they'd probably just take all 3 of us at once. Clearly our 10 month old isn't going to answer any questions on her own anyway. :P

So now we wait for the interview. Hopefully I don't forget any paperwork and we can find the office easily enough. Supposedly you get the cards in the mail 5-10 days after the interview if you're approved and can't use the Nexus lane until then. But then we'll have 5 years of speedy crossings!!!
