You can't withdraw the I-485 as it is not your application: you are not adjusting status. You can withdraw the I-864, affidavit of support, without which the I-485 will be denied.

Make an infopass appointment and provide them with a notarized letter stating you wish to withdraw the I-864. Also mail a letter to the Chicago address where the AOS packet was filed and the address on the receipt showing what service center it was sent to. Keep on top of this as it is possible to get the green card without an interview.

The I-485 can only be withdrawn by the alien, as it's their application and not yours. I'm assuming you are the US citizen in this case.

To withdraw the I-864 you write a formal letter giving all of the case details (beneficiary's name, alien number, I-485 receipt number, etc.) and stating you wish to withdraw the I-864 you have filed.

Mail one copy of the letter to whichever office is handling the I-485 (probably the NBC) and make an Infopass appointment at your local USCIS office and hand another copy to an immigration officer there face-to-face.

If you want to be 100% certain that it's withdrawn, taking a copy by hand and also mailing one to the application's current location is highly recommended.
