Earliest time for interview at Moscow embassy (K-1)?

Hi!

So, I got the NVC case number for our K-1 visa application and found out that they shipped our case to Moscow today (May 14). How long until we can apply for the interview at the embassy? I am asking because my fiancee has to travel to Moscow for it, so we want to book the tickets in advance.

Do you think that first week of June is feasible?

I just saw a timeline that had their interview recently and it took over 40 days from NVC forwarding to Embassy to interview date so I'd say you are probably looking at end of June if you are lucky.

As soon as Moscow Embassy will receive your case and will have it in their system, you can schedule interview. You can wait until they will notify your fiancee by mail about it, but it might take really long time, especially with Russian mail. I got my notice in mailbox when I already passed interview. Another way I know - you or your fiancee can try to call Embassy and ask them if they received your petition. They're not required to provide such information over the phone, but sometimes they do if you will be really nice with them (they did it for me). I don't remember how long it's better to wait, but I would tell wait at least couple of weeks since it was mailed from NVC.

You also never know which dates will be available for interview until you will actually try to schedule it. Embassy doesn't do interviews every single day, and they have limited amount of people they can take per work day, so don't rely on any dates until you will actually see available dates on their site.

Our petition was sent to the NVC on May 5th, 2014. I have no clue if it is there or not, I tried calling the 603 334 0700 number a couple of times and it was busy. I am just going to wait until I get the mail notice with our # on it.

I would assume that Diana will not interview until mid July. From what I have seen it takes on average 2 months from your NOA2 approval date until you are actually doing the interview.

Many people simply don't take earliest posible time by different reasons. I got my interview about 32 days after petition passed NVC (I got lucky to get a phone talk with somebody in the Embassy) and I could do it even one-two weeks earlier, but I didn't want to because I had to schedule days off on my work in advance and I wanted to get better deals on tickets (you know, prices can be very high if you reserve tickets just a few days ahead). If I would wait a paper notice from Embassy I would probably had interview right about 2 months after case passed NVC.

If I remember correctly, my fiancé was able to schedule her interview about 2 weeks after the NVC transfer notice and after she filled out her DS160 and paid the fee. At the time we were not looking for the earliest possible dates primarily due to the Olympics and the fact that we did not want to travel to Moscow during that period. Once she set up the interview along with the medical exam two days prior to the interview (late March), her and I booked our flights as I met her in Moscow for the interview.

Thank you all for your responses! A quick update:

So I called NVC and got the case number. The case was sent to Moscow and arrived on the 16th of May. The status on the NVC website (ceac.state.gov/...) says READY. (I received the letter from NVC on the 19th of May)

So we went ahead and submitted the DS160 and paid the fees. Yesterday my fiancée tries to set up an appointment and she gets an email saying that they do not have her case yet. Are we missing something or does it take a little longer until we can schedule the interview?

When you (or your fiancee) will pay fee and will get online at the portal where you schedule interview, you will see available dates (it's not just any day of the week, some days already will be full and unavailable, some days they just don't do interviews), then you can choose one of open days. You don't have to pick one right away, if no one works for you you can come back few days later and see if there are any changes in their calendar. I don't remember how far in advance they post available days, but you will see it.

Ok, I got an email from the Embassy in Moscow yesterday saying that the case is ready and we can schedule an interview. However, when setting it up, before being able to choose a date we get a notice that says that they will review the information and answer by email. Any ideas what is going on?

As priority date I put the NOA1 notice date (I read its that for K1, since the NOA2 had no priority date on it).

I don't remember anything like this myself, they might have chenged it in last 2 years. I would just wait for approval for a few business days.

Thanks! I went ahead and wrote them an email. I think our petition got there Thursday or Friday, i got an email saying she could setup her interview on Friday. Not sure why we are receiving this message though.
