Doctor Follow-Up Transfer to US?

So my fiance is having a hysterectomy done while she is still in Canada. If the visa process is finished I'm wondering if the follow-up appointment that she has to have 6 weeks after the surgery can be done here in the US or if it needs to be at where the surgery took place. Has anyone been through an experience like this and knows if thats possible?

Hello

I think that would be a question for her Dr. He would be able to say yes or no to this. I would assume that the followup should be with the Dr that preformed the surgery. But he could transfer the records. I would contact the Dr. On this.

Follow up are normally done with the doctor who did the surgery, as they close her file from that procedure. She would be better off seeing the doctor in Canada as it would be a pre existing care and your insurance (if you got her added in time) may not cover it.

Agreed 100% On top of that having a followup for an operation done by a totally separate Doctor probably just isn't a best practice if you want continuity of care. I can't imagine going to a doctor I'm not familiar with (and vice versa) who knows nothing about my condition or why I had an operation in another country. Let it be her last hurrah to Canadian healthcare :)
