I am trying to assist someone who I believe is going through administrative processing. Is there a post or a thread or a guide of some sort that I can read up on? Thanks!

Search in the homepage for AP or Administrative Process. You dont have to do anything nor you can... you can just do aomething if you receive a RFE or if the people in the Embassy asked you for more documents, otherwise is just waiting

I love you Charles forever!!

There really is nothing you can or anyone else can do. AP takes as long as the US government feels it should take.

Thanks, that's what I assumed. They have been waiting since December of 2012. "a USCIS office received this case from the State Department with a request that we review it. We will notify you when we complete our review, or if we need something from you." And in the response from the service request: "Your request for consular return processing is pending. The Vermont Service Center recently added resources to address this workload. These cases are worked in the order they are received and we cannot provide a processing timeframe for your case at this time. We may contact you regarding your case when your case is under active review."

Can they withdraw that petition and start over? Can they appeal if the are denied? The CEAC status says refused. Is that what it says when someone goes into AP?

Thanks for your help!

Sure, they can withdraw and start at the beginning. However, they will likely encounter a similar AP experience. They likely can appeal if denied. Hopefully, the bureaucratic processing will soon be finished. If denied or refiled, it would behoove them to remedy the rationale for the AP, or they may find themselves in the same or similar situation. As mentioned by others, they just have to wait and let it take its course.

Good luck on your friend's immigration journey.
